If you truly want to stay friends you're going to have to. Let me explain robots in simple terms: We have issues with women.
It drives us crazy. We basically have what defines you as human (love and affection and sexual intimacy) taken away from us and it basically makes us weird. We either turn the anger inward (depression) or outward (supreme gentlemen).
If you reveal that you're a girl, it's going to dredge up some severe emotional issues and he's either going to hit on you out of complete desperation or rage on you out of frustration.
