Look at "perceiving and interacting" as information gathering and processing. The Jungian functions define how that happens and your MBTI type.
Characteristics and behavior are more about general traits and values. You see descriptions for these in MBTI too, but it's bullshit and irrelevant, it has very little to do with MBTI functions.
