It was really that I had no idea how the industry actually worked & my CV reflected that. Everything I was highlighting wasn't of interest to the employer, so I was wasting page space and just confirming how green I was.
I got a good grade using matlab, so I put that on my CV, not knowing that no one out side of academics would ever touch that.
I spoke about group projects, as I was told how important they were, but from an emotional / team building point of view, when really what I should have put was "Familiar with git"
Essentially my CV said "I can be smart", where it needed to say "I can do that job"
