I signed up for youtube red before it was called youtube red (used to be called Music Key I think) and got a year free, all I had to do was put in a credit card so they could bill me once my year long trial was over
So I put in a used up visa gift card and got the trial. Trial ended back in july 2015 and I've been getting it for free ever since then
