I live for the joy of other people. I wouldn't be in this thread unless I tried to make the lives of others better than mine. I value other people over myself. I get happiness in trying to make others happy. I guess I have a savior complex or something. I don't know. Sometimes I wish I could be selfish. There's been many a time when I wished I stopped caring for people.

A year or so ago I understood that it's not enough to say that I value 'truth', because 'truth' is trivially redefinable. Religious lowlifes will contort 'truth' into all kinds of sophistic, populist definitions, such as 'the truth of love' or 'the truth of God' or 'the ultimate truth' or 'the truth that there is no absolute truth', and claim its accomplishment.
But criticism, the ability to find particular flaws and weak points, be it in a theory or a product or a work of art, is a hard skill. It's something more than dumb skepticism, 'how can you know for sure'. It takes competence. You literally cannot be critical if you are religious.
