I've lived here my entire life pretty much. It was nice for about 18 years but now I'm 21 and seen everything there is to see, you're right, it's just too big for me.
I'd love to move somewhere down in Hill Country, or back out to west Texas. Lubbock was surprisingly comfy in some places.

I'm not, and desu if you're considering it I'd really advise against it. Most of the students hate the corps and it makes meeting anyone outside of it very difficult. Plus they haze the shit out of you

I mean I like Texas as a whole, but Irving is nice depending on the part of Irving.
Most of the people here can't drive, but people say that everywhere.
The streets are too tightly packed considering how many families there are here, so you're within two minutes of a school zone no matter where you are but that's just bad planning, which again, is everywhere.
I ride the bus though and don't drive so of course I wouldn't care too much. I live across the street from IHS (in the apartments next to the park with all the drug dealers) and a week ago I heard about 6 emergency vehicles pass by on the street; I had never heard that many at once so I was a bit curious, then a few hours later my mom told me some dumbfuck kid was jaywalking and got hit by a car and died. Two days after that I heard the same number of firetrucks/ambulances stop at about the same spot, then yesterday it happened again 4 times in the two hours after the school let out.
So you may be right about the people driving poorly. Also bear in mind the number of illegals here who drive without a license or insurance.
