It's pretty bad for skin.
Shaving your beard makes your skin stronger and you will look younger than you are if you shave it 1 time every 3/4 days.
Being unable to grow a beard and not being able to shave will make you look older than you are in the old run because the skin doesn't have any sort of stimulation, making wrinkles more apparent

This is what I get after 4 weeks of no shave.
I'm 20 years old, my brother is 22 and can grow a proper beard, just like my dad.

Alright here's a few tips:
If you're not 30 yet then you still have time
Instead of simply "not shaving", get electric clippers and trim your beard at say, a 1 or a 2 and allow the slower hairs to catch up, as they can take longer
Finally apply ministride (rogaine) for six months, but only as a last resort, as it destroys the collagen when applied to your face and can make you wrinkly
