>literal permanent, irreversible nerve damage
>have to wear elbow support brace at home, at night and throughout most of the day and take vitamin B6

This doesn't feel very kawaii.

Who else ">destroying their bodies through their isolatory habits" here.

I use my computer 10+ hours a day most days. How much did you have to use it to destroy yourself? Maybe you had a terrible diet at the same time?
>>
desu senpai are you a girl btw?
>>
>>24086650
How old are you? Like how shitty must your entire diet and exercise routine been to do this?
>>
>>24086698

It's not a diet thing it's an arm posture/nerve compression from weight being placed on the elbow thing.

I'm a vegetarian so my diet is fine

>>24086756

Ye.
>>
>>24087014

Why do you believe that ulnar nerve entrapment has anything to do with diet and exercise?
Did you study Human Phys in highschool?

>>24087213

No I don't eat jello/jellies or gravy or anything like that.

My reason is that whilst I actually agree that as mammals we're intended to eat meat and that I used to really enjoy eating it, that I can no longer contribute to the hypocrisy of claiming to love animals whilst actively contributing to a system that inflicts easily the worst form of torture and abuse on millions of animals daily across the world.

I would eat an animal if it was something I had shot and prepared myself, but I will not eat the flesh of a pig that has lived its short life in a dark shed stinking of ammonia, surrounded by the squeals of its kin, lying it its own shit in a cage little bigger than itself whilst its pumped with hormones to artificially age it so that it can get to some keks dinner table faster.

I just can't ignore it anymore. It's fucking atrocious.

I legit believe in the future humankind will look back on the meat industry and compare it to one of the worst atrocities committed by the hand of man.

Oh lad
>>
>>24087405

Ye.

Also you could argue that, but I'm feeling so depressed about the situation and just want to talk to people about it. So technically, yes I want attention.
I also want to warn people about the dangers of continuous bad posture.
Nobody ever thinks about the repercussions of this shit when you do it causally every day.
>>
>>24087381
Fair enough. Would you eat that super expensive meat that is actually raised in a respectable way and is able to roam freely and what not?

I think you're getting a little carried away with the atrocity aspect, but I respect the foundations of your beliefs.
>>
>>24087409

KEKS* IT DID IT AGAIN

>>24087415

How did you inflict yours and how do you manage it?
Do you wear a brace at night too?
>>
>>24087480

Ty Anon, I really appreciate that, of course I respect your own desicions as well.

Regarding the meat bit... probably not.
The thing about vegetarianism is that when you abstain from meat for long enough eventually it begins to sicken you.
It's really strange because in the beginning I had such a difficult time not eating chicken and pork and shit, I LOVED meat, but now when I think about the taste and texture it makes me feel queasy.
>>
Well for the past 2 years I've spent 90% of my life hiding in my room, my eating habits are sporadic and completely situational, living on the bux means I often go hungry.

I don't expect to live a long life, but I'm basically a walking corpse as it is.
>>
>>24087381
>moral vegetarian
Bruh, there are plenty of fine reasons to adopt the type of diet you have, but that is not one.
>>
>>24087569
It's no big deal. I've known several people that feel the same way you do. I even dated one! I mean, I understand some mass farming operations are disgusting and abhorrent, but I feel they're the minority.

I don't think the future will ever see us abandon or even shun our meat eating ways. We'll just make a better balance between quality of animal lives and cost. Or we'll just consume less of them.
>>
>>24087609

I think it is.
If half the world's pop. ceased purchasing meat products then subsequently the demand for supply would dramatically drop which would in turn lead to better conditions for animals intended to be consumed.

I think with all the veggies and vegans in the world already it must make a pretty sizeable dent.

Meat legit revolts me now anyway so I'll never turn back even if I decided I hated vegetarianism.
>>

>>24087118
>>24087448

Why do people get so offended when they discover someone is a vegetarian?

Are you all dietitians or just shitposting your uneducated opinions.
That was a trick question, a dietitian would need more data on his actual diet before coming to any conclusions
>>

I think you overestimate the impact of the followers of your belief and underestimate the dietary tastes and demands of the emerging economies of the world.

Again, I respect your beliefs and think they hold merit even if I don't practice them.
>>
>>24087921
3.2% of Americans consider themselves vegetarian. That's SOME impact.
>>
>>24087921

In the UK alone its estimated that upto 11% consider themselves vegan/vegetarian actually, which is enormous.
>>
>>24088057
>>24087968

And India is 31% vegetarian.
>>
>>24088057
>>24087968
The problem isn't too much with developed countries, but places like China, India, Brazil, and African nations. They're growing and now the people can afford to eat meat more frequently, and they want to.

Where are you from anyways?
>>
>>24088094
India is an oddity with Hinduism, but it's growing population definitely likes eating meat. Specifically chicken. Which is fine, mostly, since chickens *can* be raised efficiently and respectablly more easily than other animals.
>>
>>24086650
How the hell is this possible? I sit in front of computers at least around 10-11 hours / day since I was 6 and I don't have any problems at all.

This is genetical, right?
>>
>>24087133

The oceans are being overfished. The whole ecosystem is going to collapse soon.

Most likely, you're getting your eggs from chickens who are raised inhumanely.

Even if you are eating eggs from free range chickens, you're still wasting energy since you're depending on the chickens to eat quite a bit more food and drink a lot more water than you get from one egg.

>>24086650
how bad is it? i got to a stage where my arms from elbow down were constantly 'asleep', whenever i woke up in the morning if i didn't wear braces the previous night i couldn't move my arms at all.
quit my physical labor job and in about 2-3 weeks it became bearable
>>
>>24089437
What do you study at university? Do you think this will hurt your job prospects?
>>
>>24089559

Idk but my symptoms started a week ago which sounds like an early catch.
I'd notice that when I woke up and when I flexed my arm the left side of my wrist and little/ring finger would begin tingling and then go totally numb/feel dead. The brace has helped a lot already though.

Also kek'ing at people insinuating this is a genetic thing and that they could never get it. It comes from specific sustained posture and pressure applied to the elbow, or in my case, resting my head on my left arm when at my PC or on the bed reading a book.
>>
>>24089671

Linguistics/translation with Japanese and Chinese language modules, and no because you can teach/translate/interpret these languages plus English in literally any country in the world.

I'm not doing it to get a job though, I genuinely love my subjects and thoroughly enjoy every single day that I'm learning, and with languages you spend the rest of your life learning them. It's great.
>>
>>24089671

Oh wait you're asking if the nerve thing will hurt my prospects! (and nah).
>>
>>24089697
if you are only at that stage it definitely isn't permanent. just give your wrists a rest for a few weeks. after that make sure you stretch them every morning etc. i barely get it anymore and my arms were basically dead weight on my body sometimes. doctors like to blame it on computers as well but as long as you aren't doing some fucking up wrist positioning it doesn't effect it
>>
>>24089782
What country do you live in?
>>24089808

I was actually crying over it last night thinking my hand would never go back to normal. I'm glad your own recovered as well.

I just started to get cubital tunnel syndrome. My left hand pinky and left side of my ring finger are almost constantly numb/asleep and I'm starting to get dull pain along the bottom of my forearm/hand.

Mine is from destroying my body at work, though.

>>
>>24090822
Yeah I know it's pretty serious. Can I just use one of those braces from CVS/Walgreen's? Also my friend who has nerve pain sent me a bunch of his extra lyrica. Do you think that will help?

Will the brace interfere with my warehouse work? Should I get the surgery?
>>
>tfw hypermobility

>can feel my knees about to dislocate sometimes and have to straighten them quickly to stop it
>both wrists dislocate dozens of times a day

dont want to think about how fucked my joints will be when im older
>>
>>24090900

Yeah I just use a basic fabric support brace for your elbow but I switch it around to press against the inner of my arm which prevents me from flexing my arm properly, and if I want it to be completely straight I simply slip something like a pen in between the straps at night which prevents me from bending my arm entirely.
With the fabric one you are still allowed movement, but the pressure just reminds you to keep it stretched and starts untraining your bad habits.
Honestly the most important thing right now it is for you to prevent yourself from keeping your arm in a fixed fkexedflexed positio at night a the most damaging thing to the ulnar nerve is keeping in continuous fixed positions, not necessarily repeated flexation.
>>
>>24091054
Was your whole arm falling asleep before this?

Now you've got me thinking as sometime I'll wake up and my whole arm will be asleep. Like I cannot move it at all and I need to reposition it with my other arm.

Happens to me maybe 1-2 times a month but I always thought it was legit circulation cutoff due to sleep position.

Started experiencing what I assume is carpal tunnel syndrome a few days ago. Gonna call my GP on Monday. I hope it's not permanent. It's because I use my laptop in bed 24/7.
