I get lured back here and don't have the discipline to resist, even when I enjoy the book.
I've gone through periods of reading a few books to completion, but then lapse back into not reading.

I know it's just a matter of forcing myself to do it everyday, but if I had that kind of discipline I wouldn't be complaining in the first place.

I'm considering unplugging my router except for maybe an hour each day.
Part of the problem is I only like to read when I know I can make it to a good stopping point, like the end of a chapter. So not being sure of how long I can read before having to stop tends to discourage me from reading at all.

I'm not sure what sort of books you're trying to read, but there are plenty out there with extremely short chapters or subheadings. Stopping points shouldn't be a worry that hinders you from picking up books. You could also try novellas though, which you can read in one sitting anyway, so the stopping point would be the end.

I can't recommend it but if that's what you're looking for booze is the answer. Get drunk throughout your free time, the real challenge begins when you need to plan around events (like work) and drinking but your tolerance is so high that despite your calculations, you are still drunk while functional at work. Normies notice if you can't pull it off impeccably.

Yeah starting out small is probably the best idea here. Ultimately I'd like to read all the major works in Philosophy that I supposed to read in college but didn't (Phil major), but I should get a general reading habit in place before starting those.
