I tried a saison (Tesco "Revisionist" brand, brewed by Marston's) recently to see what all the hype is about. It tasted like bad homebrew. From what I can tell from the style guides it's actually supposed to taste like that.

I've had Weihenstephaner Vitus, it's so well-made but tastes so fucking gross because they put bananas in it. I'd definitely try another one that didn't taste like bananas, though. I still have a bottle left so I guess I have to drink it eventually.

I don't think they use banana's it's just the yeast that they use.
I like the flavor. The hefeweisbier will have that slight banana flavor as well though.
