Fuck no, my waifu was Avril Lavigne and I liked edgy music like Evanescence and Linkin Park. I was only a stupid teen but holy fuck just remembering makes me cringe hard.

Looking back, newgrounds wasn't very funny. Everything was either some shitty sprite animation with no voices or Mario vs sonic. Or super Mario ball z or jack Mathews action cop. They were great for their time but way better content is being produced now.

Yeah, even the AOL dial-up internet access. The world moves too fast these days.
>>
if it was actually good we'd still all be watching the flash movies and games there.
It was just the best at the time, and you were a lot younger.
It was probably an intensely relieving respite in school so you think it was better than it really was.

Whenever firefox started becoming shit and chrome started getting unanimous acceptance is around the time everything went to shit.

Anything that allows you to amass large numbers of social responses like instagram or youtube basically sucked all the life out of other websites.

Continuing off of what this anon said:

>Let's Play weren't a thing. Vidya uploads were actually entertaining
>Mario, Zelda, and other childhood games were still treasured and parodies held more value
>4chan, Newgrounds, and Something Awful made the Trinity of the Internet instead of Facebook, Twitter, and Buzzfeed
>Sites like Buzzfeed weren't around to rape and exploit your childhood treasures
>The Internet was just a means of escape and simple entertainment. You didn't have faggots making their entire living off of shitty YouTube videos
>Snacks was still around and kept the newfaggotry out

1 last thing:

>Jokes/Memes on the early Internet were just as bad if not worse, than what they are today. Only difference is that you didn't have fags trying to monopolize off of it. Memes were just used as an inside joke instead of every fag with a FaceBook account to post whenever they are to lazy and/or stupid to reply to someone with a different opinion than their's

Unfortunately, anon. And it's 1 of the main reasons that "normalfags" (or rather, faggy trend followers that exist IRL) have turned the Internet into an unfathomable place of shit content.

Again, quality jokes/memes on the Internet weren't that good back in 2003-2007, but at least people weren't taking it seriously or trying to score a buck off of them.

i miss the days before ubiquitous internet connectivity

i miss the way the days felt longer

i miss the way you actually had to wait for a tv show you wanted to watch

i miss the way you had to pick up a newspaper to read the news

i miss the way cultural trends weren't determined by this speedy shallow meme culture

i miss the 90s for this reason more than the 00s, because it had some of the good of the 00s without any of the bad

the 10s are the worst of all

we're fucking drowning in data and everybody is screaming for attention

please make it stop
>>
>>24063093
People have always been like that anon. Happened when vidya became popular as well.

For the Internet, as I and others have said, it used to be a place to escape. Then when every trendy, preppy faggot out there realized that social media was a thing and that they could spread their stupid-fuck opinions to a much larger audience on a world wide level of people who A) don't give a shit or B) think it's "cool" because it's the "hip new thing"... Like everything else... Genuine content goes away and a majority of content becomes some artificial, pre-packaged BS.

I guess I have a huge fucking itch when it comes to things being done out of personal enjoyment and interest as opposed to because it will sell.

Especially when it happens to my precious 4chan ;_;

I think the end of last decade and this one has truly awakened people up to how incredibly lonely they are, hence why social media is so rampant and successful, but yes, things now compared to back in early 00s have less or none of a genuine feeling towards them, everything feels hollow, phony, staged, etc. It's going to get even worse in years to come if things are like this now, can you imagine what they'll be 5 or 10 years from now?

What scared me probably the most, is this generation and the upcoming generation, its all about "me me me me".

And honestly in the current world, thats the last thing we should be thinking of.

We are past the point of no return probably though.
>>
>>24063933

You can blame celebrity culture and morons buying into the "JUST LIKE US", influence for all of that, now because of it everyone with a mobile suddenly think they matter and are a celebrity when really it's just a case of monkey see; monkey do.

>What scared me probably the most, is this generation and the upcoming generation, its all about "me me me me".
I saw an advert on TV for a young children's toy which is basically just a mobile but that worried me how much they are being pushed onto kids at such a very young age. God knows how this is going to badly effect them, for example, one of my nephews can't even talk yet but he somehow knows what an Apple iphone is by recognizing the logos and stuff. We're truly fucked when we get old.

Let's look at this situation, shall we?

These toys exists

How?

Because of a video game.

A video game that became incredibly popular due to the Internet and places like YouTube

Some YouTubers don't play this game just for fun. They play at as a source of income. They're LIVES depend on millions of little kids watching them day after day play the SAME video game with little to no new content.

The reason why so many little kids watch these people is because of their parents not taking the responsibility and being a decent parent. Hell, would it kill these parents to just play the game with there kids for a while or set some standards?

These YouTubers who attract little kids have become so popular, they now have their own toyline.

Think about that...

People who do nothing but play the same game all day for a matter of income on the Internet have THEIR own toyline (not the game, but the people who PLAY the game) because of irresponsible parents.

That's kinda scary, anon.

Newgrounds has pretty much become Shadman's #1 advertising place. Otherwise it's mostly a boring vidya parody here, a crappy flash there, and every once in a while there's something cool that stands out.

Most of the old Newgrounds users (save for the SleepyCast except Zach (seriously, I never hated Zach so much until I started watching SleepyCabin)) have turned into huge fags.

>>
>>24065386
I thought I was the only 1 who hated Zach too.

He started out as a low quality, cheap laugh animator and I never expected anything else out of him. Then whenever he talks on SleepyCabin he constantly shits on other people talking about the quality of animation and the quality of entertainment. Yet most of his content, especially his recent stuff, has been nothing more than him deepthroating and screaming into his mic like a raging autist.

I guess there just comes a point where I've had enough of the pot calling the kettle black.
