When I need lather elsewhere (armpits, arms, necl etc) I just scoop some up from a lathery area and apply it where needed by rubbing it with my hands. I've never been told I smell. I guess if I used a washcloth my skin would be smoother though, what with the exfoliation and all.

The reason a lot of (generally west) African food, predominantly the meats are heavily seasoned is because they use it as cover for the meat's quality. West Africans didn't traditionally have a lot of meat so they preserved it to last as long as it could, and even then it'd go bad, so they'd mix it with their veggies. The main thing to consider here is skin type.
Some people use loofahs, some use washcloths, some use those Japanese scrub cloths, some use those buff puff things, and some use just there hands. All have various degrees of exfoliation and depending on your skin type is what you'll want. Some have skin that drys out easier so maybe they'll want something the exfoliates more so they get a wash cloth, or maybe some have sensitive skin so using their hands feels cleaner. It's a case by case basis but it skin tone could play a factor since the melanin in the skin could attribute to how much the skin needs exfoliation.

If you don't like makeup then really take care of your skin and even it out completely. Eyebrows look like they could use work.
