>Alien contact will happen in your lifetime
It's not so bad guys.
I don't think that's very likely. I'm hoping for some alien made structures on some far away planet.
Great.
A whole new species to not care who I am.

I hope they're cute.
What makes you think that, OP?

You should stop reading pop-sci articles. They like to take the most sensational possibilities with potential scientific discoveries and act as if that's actually what's going on.
All scientists know right now is that there are many large objects blocking a large amount of light from the star they orbit. The reason it's strange is because of how close together they are. That doesn't mean it's aliens, that just means something curious is happening. Unless there's more evidence to suggest it's life, it's a lot more logical to assume it's something natural.

It's also worth mentioning the way we detect these things is done with a telescope that measures the luminosity of distant stars over time. As large objects orbit the star they block out n% of the light. A larger object blocks out more light while a smaller object blocks out less. Since you're also measuring over time that means you can see with what frequency certain objects orbit around the star.
