So why do people on 4chan genuinely think being a "normie" is a thing?
From what I understand, you genuinely believe you're somehow different or not apart of the rest of society? As if it's a bad thing to be a functioning member of society? That you should reject all social norms and that everyone else who is "normie" is a terrible person?
Why would one want to reject being "normal" anyway? It's possibly the best thing out there about being a normal functioning human.
Do you honestly find it more normal to isolate yourself in your house every day of your life and sit on your computer or console playing video games, watching tv shows, looking at porn, and sitting on 4chan all day long? This doesn't at all seem healthy. And as someone who's experienced it on and off, it doesn't feel good.
I still didn't think I was anymore unique or special for being a social pariah. It felt terrible. And it wasn't something I was proud of. Being unemployed, friendless, or almost friendless and sitting on my computer all day.
I don't understand the notion that some people on this website actually believe being a hateful, cynic on 4chan is a better "life" than being happy and spending time with friends, family, girlfriends, boyfriends and actually enjoying your life outside of the digital space.
Just something I've been thinking about after years of use on this website.
I still don't believe we're any different from the rest of the world. You'd be naive to think you're somehow different for using 4chan. Which is despite popular belief, an incredibly popular, notorious website used by millions of people of all ages world wide.
tl;dr You're not special for using 4chan. You're not unique for liking anime, or different music, tv or film. You're not special for being a social outcast, depressive, or unemployed adult.

Yet, the moment we dare to suggest that means fulfilling those desires is something like a birthright, we treated to cries of "entitlement" and told to relegate ourselves to those private places reserved for freaks.
No one wants to be an outcast, a freak, a monster. What you're seeing isn't celebration but commiseration.
Not that users like that are even in the majority here, of course. Let's not fool ourselves. This is a sideshow, pure and simple. And this website is the carnival that's always in town. It's not surprising there's no shortage of tourists who come to look at the freaks; seeing the inhumanity of others allows them to reaffirm that they're on the right side of the pane of glass.
Never for a moment believe the freaks don't wish to cross that pane of glass and enter into the race of men. However, there will always be some who do not because they cannot.

I spend my entire middle and high school life being a sperg who went around trying to take up new hobbies and to be liked/accepted. Every time either that didn't happen or I began to feel a click would never come. One time I took up these group guitar lessons and the longer it went on the more the group got closer as I began to fade out alone - not so much a matter of them or me not trying to prevent that, there was just a disconnection that everyone felt and it began to play out in a manner where everyone started to talk and look at me with pity. I had a similar thing happen where my parents signed me up for a counseling group, and either I was too awkward for the normal kids just suffering from depression due to shitty family or whatever, or too normal for the genuinely autistic kids tipping fedoras and shit. I lied that it helped me so I was allowed to leave.
Point is, the reason we end up stuck in this shithole is because this is the only place that acknowledges this whole problem. If there was a less cancer and meme-ridden community I'd be there, but there isn't. I grew into an outcast too young to realise the consequences of shutting myself in and replacing communication with food and video games, and now I'm too deep in to get out, you've missed out on so many important moments and fallen so far behind. Who wants to be friends with a lonely guy who has autistic mannerisms? Who wants to fuck a 20+ year old, friendless virgin? To any sane person spending time on us is nothing to gain from.
And then there's that continuing "click" problem. I don't relate to the people I'm around, they don't share my interests, etc, I feel alienated by most people.
