Sab here, not to highjack thread, but to ring in. See how the white shines on that chest. That means that it is washed out (pure white) with no other color data. On the histogram, this means that the color data "falls off" the right side (highlights). Where there is white, there is only white.
Xraying works by finding buried color (color from light reflected off skin by light that penetrated the clothes because photons are really, really small) and then filtering out the dominant color (the light reflected from clothes). That means that the color must be there. The picture cannot be washed out (too bright, so that white are pure white) or hopelessly under-exposed (so dark that black is pure black).

Try to blur, with a light gaussian blur (say setting 2 or 3) multiple times until the top is a single color and then use your technique. Probably won't work -- but it may.
