Could someone give me a rundown on the different D&D editions and why someone would choose an older one over a newer one?
3.5= classic, lots of materials, established, generally respected
4= new age, designed for those who've played WoW, every class gets special attacks, decent amount of materials, still a lot of support, not super respected
5=best parts of both 3.5 and 4, but brand spankin new, just barebones when it comes to material and online tools, back to no special attacks for every class
3.5 - horribly unbalanced
4.0 - extremly balanced. perhaps overly so. feels a lot like you're playing WoW
5th ed - pretty good. not a lot of flavor yet

Never played WoW, should i just imagine mmorpg-like or is there another thing to it
Also how long would it take for more content packs to be released for 5.

There's a lot of moves with cooldowns and shit. Honestly, 4 is pretty skippable
There's also Pathfinder, which came out shortly after 3.5 and is considered to be more balanced
