PeQ/OPPz's automata doesn't leave paint on any cell. It also doesn't go counter-clockwise on the 4 vertexes of a square. Something looks sketchy. Does the heading of the automata reset periodically?
In "232752": the first "23" is confusing. Is it of any use or equivalent to "11"? A trivial optimisation is then to use "2752", blobing the same line 1/3 faster.
One thing I don't have any explanation for: in your first picture, how is "23410" that just moves around (no fork, no paint) showing its color in more than one place?
