Wild West Quest

An entire town, gone. The townsfolk of the small camp of Quinnstead have perished in a brutal massacre.

You've been hired by the local Marshal to hunt down and kill the Indians who destroyed Quinnstead and have been raiding the nearby towns.

But first, who are you?

I mean, James Harrison. Oops.

Your name is Adam Harrison, more commonly known as Revolver Ocelot.
The son of two Russian immigrants, you moved throughout the Washington territory before settling in Idaho.

There, you became one of the most notorious gunslingers in the entire state. Tales of your skill within duels spread across the Cascades, but legend and shootouts don't pay the bills.

Thus, you became a bounty hunter. You mostly hunted down drunken bandits, but the high payout of a thousand dollars forced you to jump straight into the big leagues.

You're riding your trusty white steed within Currey's Gorge, the sounds of the rushing Snake River bouncing off the steep cliffs.

To the east is a small break in the rock, a large crevice that could be a suitable hiding spot for outlaws.

To the north is Layuex Point, a sharp bluff that rises out the Western plains.

Or, you could follow the river to find those who travel it.

Hope we get a companion named Clint.
I say go to the east.

This. If it's Injuns you're searching for, they probably settled near a water source.

You decide to follow the river. No Indian ever settled in some god-forsaken canyon and Layeux Bluff was abandoned for years.

You head out of the Gorge and spot a few people on the horizon. You can't tell whether they're white or Injun, but all you can figure is that the three of em are on horseback.
>>
>>83681
forgot trip, didn't put choices, sorry.

Do you:

>Head towards the figures and try to contact them
>Stay at a distance and follow them
>Or, avoid them entirely.

Stay at a distance and follow them.
>>
>>83708
You trail the riders by a rather sizeable distance, preventing you from being spotted. The 3 men stop next to the bank of the river, and begin setting up camp.

You move closer and begin to tell they aren't Indian, but one of the men see your rather striking horse and begin hollering at you.

Do you:

>Approach them, and if so, what do you say?
>Avoid them?
>Or, attack them?
>>
>>83769
Approach them slowly, but keep a hand on your gun.
>>

Approach them.

You ride up to the makeshift camp at a painstakingly slow pacr, and get off your uneasy horse. You straighten your stance and place a hand on your Revolver, your eyes nervously darting between the three.

"Ya' one of 'em Sheriff folk?" One of the campers drawl. They're all wearing tattered clothing, and they all hold Rifles close to their chest.

Thanks to your proficiency in duels and your knowledge of guns because of that, you notice that they all hold cheap Buffalo rifles. You guess by the large pile of hides laying underneath a half-standing tarp that they're some poor Skinners, looking to make a living.

Do you:
>Talk to the Skinners about the natives and their apparent issues with the law
>Or, rob them dry of their hides so you can sell them for your own profit?

Talk to them about the redskins. They're just tryna make a livin'

You keep your hand on your Revolver just in case, but you approach the small group.

"No, I ain't one of 'em Sheriff boys. I'm here to ask some questions about some Injuns that are wanted by the Marshal."

The men visibly relax, and they keep talking. "Good, them 'lawmen' been houndin' us fer' weeks! Now, what do ya' want?

You let go of your gun and point to where you came from. " Some Shoshone massacred all the people down in Quinnstead, so I've been hired to track 'em."

One of the men yells out in anger, agitated by the news. "QUINNSTEAD!?! THOS' FUCKIN' SHITSKINN'D INJUNS! My fuckin' sister lived down there! Lemme' saddle up!"

Do you:

>Let the Skinner join you,
>Or, ignore him and keep asking about the Shoshone?
>>
>>84050
Ask how good he is with a rifle.
2 is better than 1 but then again he might be the worst shot of the entire group.
>>
>>84092
You smirk, and motion towards the man. "How good are ya wit' a rifle?" The man, still enraged, howls with fury.

"He's decent, not terrible, not great." Another man says. "What's his name?"

"Clint Westforest. One of our newer men here, moved from out east."

You nod, pondering your options.

>Do you bring him along?
>>
>>84278
Seems like we should. Who knows, the Shoshone might have more guns than we do.
>>
>>84278
Sure. Even if just to be a meatshield, two guns are better than one.
>>
>>84339
>>84420
You nod, and motion to Clint. He hops on his Brown and black horse and yells and a mixture of anguish and joy.

"Anyhow, what do you got against the Sheriff's? Seems importan' if I'm bringing 'im along." You gesture at Clint.

"They said we need a license to hunt the Buffalo, we got none. Tha' simple." One of the men say.

>Clint (Companion) added!
>Buffalo rifle added!
>Horse added!

Do you:
>Keep following the river,
>Talk to Clint,
>Hang around the camp,
>Or something else? (Write-in)
>>
>>84537
Keep following the river while talking to Clint. He may know why did the Shoshones attack the town.
>>
>>84613
You and Clint set off from the Skinners, travelling along the banks of the Snake River and it's murky waters.

"Hey Clint, any idea why those Shoshone attacked Quinnstead?" You ask in a dry tone. It had been a few hours since you embarked, so he had calmed down somewhat.

"Think it had summat' to do wit' the injuns up near Fort McDermit."

"You mean the Sioux?"

"Yeah, the S'ew." He says, butchering the name of the tribe. "Think they were friends or summat', and they had some troubles wit' tha' new Marshall in the Black Hills, so these Shoeshine or whatever jumped in." Clint mumbles.

You slightly nod, and look ahead. Smoke begins rising over the crest of Layeux Point, a few miles to the east, but it wouldn't make sense for the Injuns to head inland, unless they were up to something.

Do you:
>Head towards to the smoke,
>Head up to the river, nearly at its end,
>Or do something else? (Write-in)
>>
Rolled 6 (1d10)

>>84920
>head up the river
>>
>>86876
You and Clint ride in silence along the waters, always keeping your eyes locked on the horizon.

Eventually, you spot a small grouping on the edge of your vision. Unlike last time, you know exactly what you're looking at.

Roughly 7 teepees are loosely scattered around a small creek, and Shoshone walk around in a spirited rush.

Do you:

>Charge in,
>Sneak around them,
>Turn back and report their location,
>Or something else? (Write-in)

>roll dice+1d20 for combat
