Your name is Francisco Sánchez. You are a Spanish detective on a plane trip to Japan, paid by a mysterious employer, who has offered you quite the sum for investigating strange happenings in a small town. Apparently, some people have gone missing already- and you would have done this job for free, because one of those people is your niece, the daughter of your sister, who married to a Japanese man. You haven´t seen them in ten years, but you consider that family is important, and you got in the plane so fast you didn´t even have time to shave.. You wouldn´t forgive yourself if you didn´t investigate this.

While on the plane, your reminisce about the information you already have. The town is pretty small, surrounded by a forest, and mostly isolated from tourists, lacking any interesting places to visit. The people who have dissapeared so far have been a 30-year-old Japanese man, who owned a grocery store, a 20 year old woman, and your 16 year old niece, Naomi. These disappearances have occured weeks apart from eachother, and the three people have seemingly no connection between them. You don´t think you´ll be able to figure out much without visiting the town, and it´s still quite a ways until your plane reaches its destination, so you...

Naomi is the niece anon, not your sister. Your sister´s name is Maria.

How did I not expect this? Will probably put this in with whatever gets voted, if I can.
If in ~5-10 minutes there´s no tiebreaker i´ll make a post with a bit of each of these.

You decide to examine all the information about the case in detail.
The job offer for this case appeared in your desk with more than enough money to take the plane- more money than should´ve been laying about in your desk, and you had locked the door. This case was sending more danger signals than a nuclear plant on a faultline- and you knew that you had to take it. No information on your employee, nothing more than the location of the town, which you couldn´t even remember properly, a note saying that a car would be at the airport to pick you up, the money and mysteries without answers. You had to confirm with your sister that Naomi had dissapeared- How the employer knew that your niece was one of the missing persons- perhaps he knew that you´d go through anything to help out your family... Your sister had always had horrible luck with men, and you had to fix her troubles more times than you could count- her partners were never the kind of people you wanted to see your sister with, at least until she met her husband. The man was clean- suspiciously clean, you had thought to yourself.
The town was pretty small, a usual vacation spot for your sister´s family in summer, quiet and out of the way of most tourists. Everyone there knew eachother, your average small town, really, there had never been any similar occurences, no crimes, nothing of the sort. The most you could find out is that some people believed the overgrown house in the woods nearby was haunted. You´d never been one for hauntings and superstitions, but this was the only out-of-the-ordinary thing you could find in the area- and the first thing you´d like to investigate. Maybe it was nothing, you thought, but it´s usually the "nothing" that ended up being something important.

You know the disappearances happened each a week apart, with your niece´s being the latest, happening only yesterday- The offer had been faster than the plane you were in. Almost too fast, as if someone was waiting for it to happen to contact you...

You´re plucked out from your introspection by the announcement that you´ll be landing soon- and upon landing, you see a man, looking to be in his 40´s, holding up a sign with your name on it.This must be the man the note mentioned would be waiting for you- You examine him from afar before going with him, checking for any clues that this might be a trap, as unlikely as that´d be- after all, who´d pay enough for a 1rst class trip to Japan just to lay a trap for someone like you?. The man introduces himself as Hisao Honda, and leads you to his car- surprisingly expensive for a man with his looks, and certainly not discrete. On your way to the town, you...

"So... Mr. Hisao, was it?"
"Yes?"[/spoiler]
The man´s voice was slightly... annoying. You couldn´t quite place your finger on why, maybe it was the pitch, or the fact that he seemed extremely happy about everything- perhaps he didn´t know why you were here?
"Could you tell me about our employer?"
"Ah, Hideo-sama?"
...Sama? If you remember correctly, that was a extremely respectful way to address someone. So rich and respected, eh? Why would someone like that ask you, of all people, to investigate a case? Was it your personal investment?.
" Well, I don´t really know much about him. Nobody who works for him does, but he pays to keep everyone from thinking much about that. Honestly, I kind of prefer it this way! "
You aren´t going to get much out of this man, you reckon. His brain seems to get as much use as winter jackets in a hot summer afternoon.

"Well... what can you tell me about the area?"
" Oh, I know that one! "
Did he, really...?
" The town is called Morigawa, it´s a pretty small town, surrounded by a forest. Not much to see there, really, I don´t know why Hideo-sama would want you to go there! It´s kind of a boring place, the people there don´t really like strangers, I heard."
You are really starting to dislike this guy. At least you got some information you didn´t have before about your employer- and it just poses more questions. You decide to not ask him anything else- and within a couple of hours, you arrive at the town. You haven´t told your sister that you´re here yet, but it´s getting close to nighttime. You know you have a room already rented in the local inn, and you won´t have much time today to investigate if you don´t start soon. Perhaps you should...
>Go search for the "haunted" mansion in the woods (roll 1d100)

Though we might be tired and jet-lagged, it might be better to get this done now before any possible gossip goes around about a private plane arriving.

You decide to try looking for the mansion in the woods- You are tired, yes,but there´s no time to waste. You´ll sleep later.
You ask around the town where the mansion is, since you don´t even know in which direction to go if you want to find it, but all you get is a couple bad looks and some superstitious bullshit about it being haunted- perhaps you weren´t persuasive enough. You decide to head north to begin with, since you´d rather not tell your sister you´re here- the fact that someone paid you that much to do this would probably worry her. She´s not stupid.

While looking through the woods, in the golden light of a dying day, you try to look for a path, anything that might lead to a building in the woods- after all, if people once lived there, there must have been a way to get from the town to the mansion- You circle the entire town, looking for any indication that there might have been a path, but don´t manage to find anything- does this supposed haunted mansion even exist? How long has it been abandoned?. When you´re about to give up and go to bed, as it´s getting dark and you´d rather not end up lost, you hear something. A twig breaking, rustling of leaves- nothing out of the ordinary in a forest, if not for the silence that followed it, as if the forest itself had been alerted by the noise, and was trying to listen- a silence that couldn´t be normal. The noise sounded pretty close to you, and you think you could probably run up to there and catch what made it, if you tried.
>Run up to the noise quickly (1d100)
>Try to sneak up on whatever made the noise (1d100)
>You´ve seen enough movies to know following the noise in a dark forest is probably not a good idea. Go back to the town and sleep.
>Call out for someone.

You rush to the noise as fast as you can, startling whatever it was that made the noise. You hear a shriek, a rustling of leaves, and- you see nothing. You don´t find anything where the noise was originally made but the broken twig. No footprints, and no other indication that there was anything there. Slowly, sound returns to the forest, and you realize it´s a lot darker than it seemed just a second ago. You should probably go back to the town, you think, before it gets too dark to find your way back- and as you try to find your way back, you see it. The mansion.

The mansion is in a overgrown state, with vines crawling up the walls, and broken windows. It´s very large, to the point that you wonder how the hell you managed to miss it until now. It´s a lot darker than you thought it´d be by now, so against your better judgement, you decide to go in... good thing you brought your flashlight. There´s no way you could go back to the town now, in this darkness.

As you open the door, you see a small flash of light- and then everything goes dark.

Okay folks, that will be it for today! Sorry for not running for long, some really important things came up today and I´ll (hopefully) continue with this tomorrow, if the thread is still up! Sorry for the inconvenience.
