The sun warms your face as you walk down the winding roads of Taradin. The sweet smells of cakes and sweets from shops gently temp your nose. The roads are crowed, filled with life. You walk at a steady pace arms slightly up to help push through the waves of people heading in different directions.
>>
As you walk down the road, you notice a man beckon you. He is standing behind a table, on which strange metallic and wooden statues are placed.
The man is old, maybe late 60's. Most of his teeth are missing and his smile is not a pretty sight. He beckons you again.

What do?
>Ignore
>Come closer
>Caress face gently (idk lol)
>>
>>319526
get closer, but have one hand on our hidden weapon, ready to spring into action.
>>
You walk over to the man, carefully keeping a hand on the dagger in your pocket, running your thumb down the blade.
He has long silver hair reaching down to his chin, and his eyes are an inky black so dark you could lose yourself in them.
>>
"Hello young one" He croaks. His lips barely parting.
"Would you like to buy something?" He says gesturing to the table and the strange statues.

"Su-sure" you say a bit puzzled. "But what are they?"

He smiles a sickening smile
>>
"Well... why don't you come back here and I can show you." His smile turns more sinister and his eyes look into yours. You grip the dagger tighter in your pocket.
"No thank you" You say, starting to back away from the table "I should probably go". He grabs your arm tightly. Too tight for someone of his age.
"Come on now young one, don't be shy"

he'll be expecting the inevitable wrist slash for immediate freedom of movement. that's an instinct move. a panic move. prey panic. prey get eaten.

we go for his belly. pull closer, quicker than he expects, and stab deep and stab hard, under the ribs and up toward the good shit. we are NOT getting raped or murdered in an alley today.
>>
>>319654
You free your dagger quickly you grab his arm and yank him closer, pulling him onto your blade. It slides under his ribs. You push deeper.
>>
You're breathing heavy now. His body falls limp onto your shoulder. Blood runs out of the wound and onto your hand. Quickly you retract the dagger wipe it clean on your pants and put it in your pocket. Around you you hear people gasp as they see the body. You quickly turn around and walk as far away as possible.
>>
You look over your shoulder one last time, the body is gone.

"What...?"

You feel the blood on your hands start to disappear. Something isn't right. Your eyes keep resting on the strange statues on the table. You feel they might have an explanation.

Out of the corner of your eye you see andrite (police) walking to the scene. You can't stay long, enough people saw you for you to be convicted. You let out a sigh, what should you do?

well the body's gone, and so's the blood. these schmucks are shocked, city slickers who probably never even dreamed of witnessing a murder in the streets. hide your knife surreptitiously and walk away quickly back home.
>>
>>319715
You slide the knife back into your pocket. The sun is setting now. You pick up the pace and start to head home.

The sun is setting on the horizon, there's less people now. As you head hope you can't help but think what exactly happened back there?
>>
(home*)

You look at your hand where the blood used to be. Nothing seems different or off. Sliding it back into your pocket you continue walking down the winding roads.

Careful to avoid any andrite you stick to the small winding roads. Though it takes longer it gets the job done. The sun has set now, and a cool air has set for the night. You watch as your home comes closer and closer.
>>
You walk up to your door. Your house is fairly small. Not much to look at but, eh its home.

You go to open the door, it swings open... someone has been here. You look inside, it's dark and hard to see. A shiver goes down your spine and you grip the knife in your pocket.

Slowly you walk in, papers and drawers cover the floor. All the cabinets are open. Someone was looking for something.
You decide to investigate

Where should you look first?

>kitchen
>bedroom
>living room
>basement
>>
>>319747
go room by room, clearing systematically. im guessing the living room is closest, go in low and slow, make no sound.
>>
Hey people my internet derped last night so I wasn't able to continue. I don't even know if people even care about this thread but I'm going to continue the story anyways
>>
You crouch down to the ground and slowly head into the living room. The floor boards creak and groan under your feet as you move. The living room is a mess. Papers, pillows and couch cushions cover the floor all around you. Someone was definitely looking for something.

As you look at the floor you notice some small red stains on the wall leading into the kitchen.

What do?

You decide to follow the stains. Keeping low you go into the kitchen. It's a mess in there. Red splatters cover the floor and paint the walls red. This was recent, very recent. The putrid smell of death fills your nostrils and makes your head swim.

A cabinet slowly creaks open and out tumbles a severed head...

That's when you hear the voice behind you.
>>
"Pretty sight isn't it?" It's a woman's voice. Slowly you turn around. Standing in front of you is the most gorgeous woman you've ever seen. Long black wavy hair falls at her shoulders, gracefully framing her face. Her eyes are a shade of blue so vibrant they seem to be looking into you. She is wearing what appears to be Black leather. That's when you notice the knives.

80% of every square inch of her is covered in an assortment of knives, daggers and other sharp objects. Though she is not very big you can feel the danger radiating off of her. You grip your knife tight, running your thumb on the blade.
>>
You
"Wh-who are you, what do you want... I don't have much money if that's what you want."

She laughs

Woman
"You think this is about money, boy do you even know who I am?" She pulls out a knife and inspects it before sheathing it again. "Do you even know who YOU are?"

You
"What do you mean?" Sweat starts to trickle down your forehead. You're knuckles are white from clenching them.

Woman
"Do you know who you killed today? What you killed today?" She smiles "Didn't you wonder where the blood went? Where the body went?" she laughs "Man if you knew what you were, what he was, what I am..." She pulls out the same knife again. "I guess it's better you don't know. At that moment she charges you

Dodge toward the door. Try not to show our back to her. Get the fuck out as soon as possible. Also start yelling loudly so our neighbors know something's going on.
>>
You step to the side as she runs past you. After that you book it. Your vision is blurry and the whooshing of blood fills your ears as adrenaline kicks in. The door comes closer and closer in your vision.

It's closed... why is the door closed. You left it open when you came in. No time to think, you turn slightly and ram your shoulder into it. It swing open. You almost wish it hadn't

In front of you is a dark abyss, you're no longer in Taradin. Your momentum gives you no tie to stop yourself, pretty soon you'll be plummeting to your death.

That's when somebody grabs your collar.

Woman
"That could have ended very badly" She says puling you back into the home. She stares at the undulating abyss for a moment before closing the door.

You
"What the hell is happening!" you're breathing heavy now. "A second ago you were trying to kill me, now this?! And what the FUCKING hell is that" You point at the door.
>>
Cara
"I little time to explain. My name is Cara. I attacked you to test your battle instincts. As I suspected you did fine. You clearly saw I was more experienced than you and chose the best option." She smiles an innocent smile
"I know you must be very confused right now and I can't blame you, but for now you have to trust me."

"That thing you killed earlier today was no ordinary man, it was a demon. A pretty high level one too. How an ordinary mortal like you managed to kill it is unexplainable. The only option is to assume you are no ordinary mortal. And that is why I, Cara am here."

She smiles another innocent smile of hers. Once you get past the assortment of deadly weapons and scary fast killing skills, She's actually quite cute.
>>
You're mind is spinning. You grip your knife tighter.

"Okay, that's great Cara, but you still haven't told me why my house is now suspended in an endless abyss." Then ask what the practical application of being able to kill demons is. Will we be paid for it? Finally ask what she intends for us to do now.
>>
>>320883
"Okay, that's great Cara, but you still haven't told me why my house is now suspended in an endless abyss."

Cara
"It's just a simple dimension field I made as a precaution, wouldn't want my little pet to run away would I?" She gigges

You shift uncomfortably, how is this even possible...

You
"So what are the practical applications of being able to kill demons? Will I get like money and stuff?"

Cara
"No we kill demons for free, of course we get paid! what do you think this is, charity?"

You
You shift on your feet, the floor groans "So what so you intend for us to do now?"

Cara
"Well, my old bounty hunting buddy died a bit ago and I need a replacement. I was in the area scouting when you killed that demon and you seemed like the perfect choice." She smiles again, as if she didn't just say she's a demon bounty hunter.
>>
Without any warning she turns and opens the door. Warm light hits your face as your eyes adjust. The abyss is gone, in it's place you see the most beautiful building you've ever seen.

Cara
"This is where we'll be staying when we're not bounty hunting." She gestures to the grand building "Welcome to Nedridan"

This is all moving so fast, a second ago you were walking home now you're talking to a demon bounty hunter. Still, the beauty of the sprawling mansion captures your wonder. You step through the door.

You
"How do you do all this? The magic? The teleporting? The dimensional whateverthefucks?" Cara giggles

Cara
Most people faint when they first see magic, I've never heard someone call it a whateverthefuck.

You
"You mean to tell me you know magic?" You laugh. "You got to be kidding me, I'm not some kid. There has to to be a logical explanation for all this."
>>
>Write in the weirdest explanation you can come up with for how this happened (IDK just do it)
>>
I think I'm going to change how I do the dialogue, this is kind of annoying
>>
>>320932
When we tried to run away she drugged us, so we hallucinated for a bit and then passed out. She's now moved us to some other place next to a mansion with a meticulous replica of our house nearby. We're still tripping hard enough that we didn't even know the difference. Until now of course.

>>320951
Generally you can just indicate who was speaking first and then forgo specifying afterward. Readers generally just skip over all the not-dialogue parts anyway.
>>
>>320962
(Thanks, this is my first quest so I'm not very good)

You
"Obviously when I tried to run away you drugged us so we hallucinated for a bit and then passed out. Then you moved me next to a mansion with a meticulous replica of my house nearby." Cara looks at you in disbelief "You really must be stupid she says, I don't think I've heard a weirder attempt to explain magic." You frown.
"Anyways, no I did not drug you, I brought you here with a whateverthefuck as you call it. In time, you may learn to do some of the things I can do."

(I know I changed yours a bit but I want magic to be real :P Hope you don't mind)

Cara

"Anyways we better get going soon, it may look close but it's a looong way from here." She giggles again, man those giggles are starting to get on your nerves.

"Almost forgot!" She says grabbing your arm "I need to mark you ^-^" You pull your hand away and grip your knife.

"The HELL do you mean by mark me?"

"Well I have to no where you are if you get lost" She grabs your left arm again and produces a long silver rod from her clothes. She pressed the rod onto your wrist. Immediately a burning sensation spreads from the point of contact. She smiles

"This will only hurt a little." A strange shape starts to appear on your wrist making a sort of rune. Suddenly the pain is gone and the marking boldens. She pulls out her left arm

"Look we match!" she says before slipping the rod into her clothes again.

No problem, I thought you just were asking for an absurd explanation of what the MC thought was happening.

>>321017
I think if we're going to travel under Cara we're going to need to need to establish some ground rules as we head towards the mansion. We should start off asking for 30% of the proceeds of demon killing, with 5% extra for every year of tutelage until our earnings are matched.

Then we should ask about the fundamentals of magic and how it works. Get a grasp on how we can begin learning it and the like. Finally, actually introduce ourselves. It's rude to be called "you" all of the time.
>>
>>321042
>Any name ideas for MC?
>>
>>321049
What sort of culture is he from?
>>
>>321057
He is from a medieval sort of German, American mix culture. This isn't really earth so I don't know how to describe the culture.

Just Imagine a mix of Germany, America and vikings in medieval times.

Also should the story be from a 2nd person (you, your) perspective or 3rd person (him, they, her etc)?

I
>>
>>321068
How about Rimmelt Visser? A good Frisian name seems like a good analogue.

I prefer 2nd person, but it's up to what you feel most comfortable with.
>>
>>321088
(No problem 2nd person is more interactive anyways)

Rimmelt
"Cara, since we're going to be traveling together I thought I should introduce myself." You stick out your hand, "My name is "Rimmelt Visser"

"That's a interesting name." She giggles. You keep you hand outstretched, waiting for her to shake it. She looks at it puzzled. "What are you doing Rimmelt?"

"What do you mean what am I doing? I want to shake hands." You sigh, your arm is starting to get tired." In the distance birds chirp

"Sh-shake hands?" she frowns "What is that?"

"Well" you take her hand "It's like this" You move your hand up and down. "It's a sign of peace, understanding."

"That's strange I've never heard of this 'shaking hands' but if it pleases you I'll allow it. Now we better get going, we really have wasted time." With that Cara sets out in front of you. You can't hear her footsteps, must be some kind of magic spell.
>>
Quickly you run and catch up to her. Let the adventures begin

5 HOURS LATER

Leaves crunch under your feet and the sweet smells of sap and bark tickle your nose. Looking up into the sky you see the two suns of this strange world. Cara explained to you that here it never turns to night. You continue trudging silently through the woods. Amazing plants and herbs surround you in a dreamlike serenity. Flowers the size of your head and tress as big as the tallest mountains all add to the wonder that is this woods.

"I was thinking" you say "That if we're going to work together I want to know how we're going to split the income.

"Well what do you want to know" she says, looking straight ahead. The wonder of this woods does not even seem to phase her.
>>
Rimmelt
"For starters, how do we split the rewards? Do we do 50% 50%?" You say whist looking at a strange pus filled blue leafed plant.

"50-50?!" She laughs "You must be out of your mind! No way am I splitting 50-50. Boy you're lucky you're even getting payed" She quickens her pace a little bit. You frown, then jog to catch up.

"What about this, 60% 40%"

"I'll do 70% 30%" That's the most you're getting ok?" She giggles, man those giggles are annoying.

"How about-

"Shut up"

"No I'm not finish-" She clamps a hand over your mouth

"I said shut it, now" She whispers. In the distance you can hear the faint sound of drums.
Cara crouches you do the same. Something isn't right. "Follow me" Me she says, moving towards the drums.

You rub you're thumb on the edge of your blade
>>
You come to a clearing, in the center are strange hairy creatures. They are bout 3 times larger than a normal human and are covered in pure muscle. They appear to be doing some sort of ritual involving drums. Cara presses her lips together.

What do?
(Also thanks for sticking with this quest, even though it isn't the best)
>>
>>321201
Just follow Cara's lead for now since we have no idea what these things are. If she wants us to fight them, we should try sneaking around behind them and stabbing the largest one in the base of his neck to sever the spinal cord. After that, run back into the woods and try to pick the other two off individually.

>(Also thanks for sticking with this quest, even though it isn't the best)
Not at all. I'm enjoying it, and the only way to improve is to try it out a bit.
>>
"Cara what should we do? what are those things?" You whisper, breathing heavy. She presses her lips together tighter.

"Stregachi... DAMN IT!" She yells. You jump surprised by the anger. "I didn't want to do this now but, take this." She pulls one of the many assortment of knives on her body and hands it to you. It's about 7 inches long and wicked sharp. "Don't do anything until I tell you to okay. This knife is for self defense only okay? Though you were able to kill that demon at the shop, you're still not trained in combat or magic, wait here"

Cara quickly crawls out of view, leaving you alone behind a tree. The drumming intensifies and the Stregachi start to make growling and howling noises. Many minutes pass, nothig is happening. Then suddenly you see Cara dart into view. Quickly she jumps one of the beast, stabbing it in the neck before it evaporates into black smoke. Soon after she's out of sight again.
>>
"Whoa" You say to yourself, you feel bad leaving her to do a the work. But you remember what she said about staying put. Again you see Cara come into view and kill one of the beast. The Stregachi start to panic, two of their members have fallen and they don't know the cause. So far Cara has been nearly undetectable. There's only 4 left.
>>
3 more evaporate soon after, you don't even see her this time. Now there's only one left, the drummer, the leader. Cara jumps towards his back, he knew it was coming. The leader turns and grabs Cara out of the air. You hear her scream and the knife in her hand topple to the ground. The leader pins her against a tree, his mouth widens to show his teeth. It's smiling. The horrible thing is smiling. Cara is struggling to get free. It's no use, the thing is to strong.

What do?
>>
>>321281
Throw our old dagger at the beast and enter the clearing wielding the one Clara gave us. Try to gain its attention, even if we need to get closer to it, and perhaps try a stab at it. Once it engages though, go full evasive and try to buy time for Clara to do something.
>>

10KB, 400x400px
Your hand closes around the old dagger in your pocket. It's now or never. You stand up and chuck it straight at the Stregachi's back. It doesn't do any damage but it sure as hell got it's attention. You run full speed into the clearing screaming. Cara is starting to look pale. You pick up some rocks and throw them at the beast. Now it's angry. It drops Cara and starts towards you. Oh Shit.

Cara falls at the base of the tree, dazed. You need to buy her time.
>>
"Come and get me" You yell. Even though it can't understand you. This sees to get it's attention. It charges you. Knife in hand, arms shaking you jump out of the way. Or at least you try to.
>>
This one is smarter then the others. It predicted your movements and hits you with a mighty paw. You smash into a tree. How could something be this strong? Your vision is blurry, strange shapes and colors fill your line of sight. No time to rest you stand up again. You run at the beast.

What do?
>Jump
>Dodge (Again)
>Attack
>Write in
>>
>>321331
Try to get back into the forest line, limiting his mobility. It'll be easier to dodge if he can't making large, sweeping strikes. If he turns towards Clara again feint charging him, and once he returns his attention to us just go back to moving away. All we need to do is keep his attention for a while.
>>
You turn and run into the forest again, you can hear branches breaking behind you as it enters. The mark on your wrist starts burning, you don't know what it means and you don't have any time to care. You can hear the beasts thundering steps behind you, they've started to slow down. Adjsuting your course, you turn and try to get closer to the clearing. You don't want to get to far away for Cara. Though the Stregachi has slowed down, it still wasn't enough you hear it grunt as it tries to attack you again. Instead of a large swipe it tries a punch. You doge to the left. It misses and instead slams through the trunk of the tree next to you. It's having trouble. good.
>>
The beast growls in frustration. You've managed to make up some ground. It's having trouble running through the thick layer of trees separating you two. Flashes of green whiz past you as you run faster than you've ever run before. Left Right Duck Jump is all you can think as you navigate the minefield of rocks and trees.
>>
Then, you see her. Cara, thank god. Shes jumping in the trees. How she can move that fast and jump that far is beyond you. But you don't care. Within seconds of seeing her she jumps from the trees onto the Stregachi's back. She slips her knife into the back of it's neck . In seconds it vaporizes. You fall to your knees in exhaustion, then, everything goes black.
>>
The smell of stew fills our nose. Sowly, you open your eyes. You're in a tent. Next to you, Cara is sleeping in a chair. To you're right lies the knife Cara gave you and on Cara's lap is your old one. What was she doing with it? Looking closely you can see dark circles under her eyes. Through the flaps of the tent you can see a crackling fire with a pot on it, the source of the smell.

What do you do?

>Pretty much just do what ever you want
>>
>>321399
Go out by the fire, and listen to the forest if Cara's not there.

Check on the stew -- eat some and raise it from a the fire a bit if it's done -- and keep watch outside. When Clara awakens, start with the following: "35 percent cut for now, and you teach me magic. I did save your life after all." After that inquire about her wellbeing, and whatever it was we just fought.
>>
One second, theres a bird in my house lol
>>
>>321412
>>321422
Careful not to wake Cara you sit up. Very sowly you open the flap of the tent and crawl outside. The smell of the stew intensifies. You listen to the sounds of the Forrest around you. It really is a beautiful pace. After a while you decide to eat some stew. You don't have any utensils, and you don't want to wake Cara, so very carefully you spoon it with your hands. It's deicious
>>
Wonderful sounds of chirping, clicking and buzzing fill your ears as you take in this strange world around you. Since you aren't walking now you have time to look at things a little closer.

As you are watching the world around you a strange bird type creature lands on your lap. It's blue and covered in yellow spots with a green beak.

What do?
>>
>>321468
Carefully pet its head while keeping your dagger at hand. It's probably a demon, but it never hurts to try diplomacy first.
>>
You go to grip your dagger but catch nothing. Shit, you left it in the tent. Very slowly you raise your hand up to it's head. It chirps. So far so good. With one finger you carefully pet it's head. It chirps again. Behind you you hear the flap open

"I see you've made a new friend Rimmelt" It's Cara. She's smiling.

"Ye-yeah" You saw awkwardy as the bird flies away.

"So how do you feel?" she asks as she sits in front of you, your knees are touching. "You were out of it for a couple of days." You stare blankly at her
>>
Rimmelt

"What do you mean? Was I really unconscious for a coupe days?" The sound of the fire crackling start to become more pronounced.

"3 days to be exact. You took quite a beating against that Stregachi. I'm surprised you lived." You can see her eyes loose focus a bit as she says this. "Smart thing you did back there, run into the forest. Probably saved your life."

"Well yeah, it was th-" She slaps you, hard. you stare dumbfounded. "What the hell? I saved your life and you slap me, what's that for?"

"That's for risking your life, I told you to stay down." You are speechless.

"What was I supposed to do, let you die?" She shrugs as if saying "I guess so"
>>
Cara
"So what were we discussing before?" she takes a scoop of the stew with her hands.

"Um.. payment and things like that. You proposed 70% 30%." she smiles

"Oh yeah, so that's my offer. 70% 30%. I'm sorry but that's the most you're getting now." Around you, the sounds of the forest begin to quite.

"I can do 70% 30% bu-"

"good" she smiles"

"Let me finish. But every year we raise my cut by 5 percent until our earning are matched. Deal?"
>>
Cara shrugs "Deal"

What do?

>Ask Cara any questions you have
>>
>>321571
How do we earn money from this? Who pays us?
>>
>>321582

Rimmelt
"Cara I was wondering, how do we earn money from this? Who pays us?"

"Well, the mansion that we're headed to is owned by the D.B.D.A The Demon Bounty Distribution Association. They collect all the bounties for demons in the human world and grade them for difficulty. F being easiest and A being most dangerous. Depending on the bounty, the more money you get. Now when you complete a bounty, you need to take the head of the demon to the D.B.D.A-

(Sorry for slow typing)
>>
>>321571
Let's ask about magic as well. Is it an academic study or more of a feeling thing?
>>
"And if the head matches the bounty then they pay you. That's why there was a head in your cupboard. The brother of the demon you killed in town that day had come for you, and since he had a bounty on him, I decided to take his head."

"Okay sounds reasonable" Cara Smiles and takes another sip of the stew.

What do?

>>Let's ask about magic as well. Is it an academic study or more of a feeling thing? (I'll ask this next)
>>
Rimmelt

"So about magic." You take a sip of the stew. "What's it like?"

"What do you mean?"

"Is it an academic study or more of a feeling thing?" Man this stew is good

"A mixture of both I would say. You have to have the gift inside of you, but if you don't have a basic understanding of the magic concepts then you won't be able to achieve or control certain things." Cara takes another sip of stew "You could even hurt yourself if you don't know what you're doing."

What do?

>More questions?
>>
>>321632
When are we going to break camp and continue to the mansion? Other than that, nothing.
>>
Rimmelt
"So when are we going to break camp and continue to the mansion?" The stew's almost gone

"Maybe in a couple hours, you should get more rest. Also, I think caste is a better word to use to describe the D.B.D.A building."

"Okay... castle then. Also I have a question, Don't you ever get uncomfortable? you know, wearing that knife outfit? The sounds of the forest quite even more.

"Yeah a little, but as long as I'm somewhere dangerous I think it's best to keep it on. I take it off to seep though." You remember that she was sleeping in the chair next to you. That means she hadn't meant to fall asleep.

The forest is silent now

Rimmelt
"What's happening? What's going on?"

"Don't worry, they do this every 17 hours. Since there's no night here this is the time the animals go to sleep. We should too." Cara stands up and heads into the tent. "I'll be changing. If you come in here, you're dead."

With that Cara closes the tent flap.

Rimmelt

"Guess I better get some rest." You lay down and rest your head on your arm. Instantly sleep engulfs you.
>>
(Hey are you guys liking this? I don't really know what makes a good quest or not.)
>>
As you sleep you think about everything that happened recently. One day you're living a normal life, the next you meet the most beautiful woman in the world, and are hunting demons. Or at least on your way to start hunting them.

...
..
..
.
.
You drift through seep mindlessly and calmly. Finally, a chance to rest.
>>
5 HOURS LATER

You are gently awoken by he sounds of the forest. The smells of bark and sap fill you again as you sit up. Inside the tent you can here Cara mumbling to herself. Moments later she exits the tent and instantly the tent dissapears.

"Here Rimmet take these" She says handing you your old dagger and her knife. She winks at you "You can keep mine." She giggle, it doesn't seem as annoying anymore. "We better get going, I think we'll make it before "night" falls." With that Cara turns on her heals and walks into the forest. How she knows which way to the castle, you have no idea. You jog to catch up.

3 HOURS LATER

You have been walking in silence these past couple hours, you feel that you should say something.

What do?
>Ask about wrist mark
>Ask age (idk)
>Bring up hobbies/interests
>Ask about old hunting partner that died
>Write in

It's fairly good thus far. I wouldn't mind for there to be dice rolls every now and again to check our performance or skill levels to determine it, and it's generally good to provide some example options at every decision point so the barrier to interaction is smaller. It feels like we have some narrative direction, though, with a clear objective, which is good.

>>321800
>Ask about wrist mark
Specifically if it has a range or something since it seemed like it burned once we started to get further from her. After that:
>Bring up hobbies/interests

(Thank you for the suggestions :) I'm not really sure how to incorporate dice rolls. I know its bad of me as QM to ask the reader but do you have any ideas? I want this to be a fun experience for anyone who reads this)
>>
>>321901
The usual format is to have players roll if they're in an important situation that seems like their actions could fail, but there is a chance at success. If we were trying to persuade someone, for example, we would try to roll over a number you set based on how charismatic we are and how difficult you imagine it would be to do so. If none of the first three rolls succeed, then we fail; the margin we fail or succeed by would also determine how much we succeeded or failed. It's by no means a required thing, but it adds an element of randomness and interactivity to a quest.

"So Cara, what exactly is this mark?" You gesture to your left wrist

"Well, it's mark of our bond." She says "I thought you would be able to figure that out :P" She sticks her tongue out at you.

"No no, I mean I know that but before, when the Stregawhateverthehell was attacking us it started to burn, a lot. Especially when I was running away from you? Does it have some sort of range?" Cara stops walking

"Say that again."

"What?" You are confused "It burned when I was running from the stregaazilla thing." Cara grabs your wrist.

"Rimmelt do you know what this means?" she grips you tighter. "This mark reflects how much magical potential you have in you. Most people don't feel it, and even the strongest of bonded wizards have reported slight tingles... and you said that it burned? She looks dumbfounded, scared even.

"Y-yeah, is everything all right?" She's pacing now, mumbling to herself. You tap her on the shoulder. "I said is everything all right?"

"Rimmelt, magic attracts demons. Most people can suppress it after they've learned. I thought you had little magic power, that's why I wasn't worried but if you... oh god.

"Cara what's happeni-"

"Rimm, every demon within a 500 mile radius probably knows of your magic power. They will stop at very little to get it. We must run." Cara grabs your arm and starts a full sprint
>>
"But Cara" you say now panting "Why did it burn then, why isn't it burning now? I don't think this is much of an issue right?

"Rimm, magic power manifests the most when someone is feeling extreme emotion, you were pretty scared back then right?"

"Yeah I guess, but then why doesn't it burn for you?"

"I already told you, I learned to suppress my magic when I'm not using it."

Your speed picks up as you realize what this means. You just turned on a beacon for every demon in this realm to see.... Your wrist starts to burn
>>
The next 3 hours were filled with constant running. That was before you heard the wings...

Rimmelt
"CARA WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SOUND!?" The burning on your wrist is excruciating now. S

"We're almost there! " You can see the D.B.D.A Castle getting closer. Just ten more seconds and you'll be safe. The grand scale of it hits you now as you approach, but there's no time for amazement . Behind you you hear wings and screams worse than anything in his life. Just five more seconds! But then the steel doors start closing they won't make it in time . Slowly the doors which look more like steel walls are lowered from above the entrance.

Roll a 20 sided die!

10 below doesn't make it
11 above does make it

You make it. Barley. The doors boo behind you as you emerge into a massive room. You stop running and put your hands on your knees. That was close, too close. The smell of dust and old leather tickle your nose. You look around. So this is the D.B.D.A... Bookshelves line every wall, reaching up to the ceiling hundreds and hundreds of feet up into the air. The floor is made of stone brick. The whole room slightly dim, though not much. One puzzling thing is there is no source of light.

"Welcome to the D.B.D.A" Cara says panting. "We're safe here. Follow me, I'll show you where we stay." Too tired to raise any objections you follow her.

Cara leads you down a never ending maze of wide corridors. That a building this big could exist is mind boggling. After what seems like an eternity of lefts rights and staircases you arrive at a doorway

"Welcome home" Cara says smiling. You open the door and walk inside. You are greeted by nothing more than a 7ft by 7ft room with a bed.

"This is it?" You are confused "This is all they have to offer?"

"They house so many people here, they can't give everyone master suites. Just enjoy what you get, ok? I'm going to sleep, do what you want." With that Cara shuts the door. Something along the lines of I'l kill you if you walk in while I'm changing makes it through the door.

You decide to explore. But aren't sure what you're looking for, or why.

What do?

>What do you want to look for that could be helpful?

Try to find a bookcase and see if we can read the contents. There's probably a lot of useful information here. Just try to make sure we know how to get back to our room.
>>
(also is anyone else even reading this other than you?)
>>
>>322173
You decide to try and find a book case. You remember that there were a lot at the entrance. But are hopelessly lost on how to get there. You decide to just walk. Before you are able to leave you hear Cara behind you

"Just remember, try not to get caught out in the castle at this time of night, ok? The guards here don't like it.

"Yeah, sure whatever" With that you start to head down the hallway. You look around the corner. Clear, good. Slowly you turn the corner and keep on walking. "Ok, ok. Bookcase, bookcase. Where would I put a bookcase?" You look around. "Would it be to much to ask for a simple map?" You continue walking. An assortment of statues, paintings and other such art pass you by as you make your way down deeper into the castle. Every now and then you stop to make sure there is no one around. So far, your luck has held out... so far.

That's when you see it, at the end of the hall. Alas! A book shelf! Quickly you walk over. A number of volumes catch your eye.

Don't feel too discouraged OP. /qst/ is a slow board, and if you decide to continue this with a new thread some time in the future, you'll probably get some new players.

(Thank you)

You decide to start from the bottom. You remove a book titled Basic Magic Control from the book case. It's heavy, no way this is just the basics you think. Still you have to learn at least a little.

You open to the table of contents to find that the book contains only two sections...

TABLE OF CONTENTS
Magic Suppression ...Pg. 5
Magic Releasing ... Pg. 1,204

Since you already know about releasing magic you decide to open to magic suppression
>>
What you read of the book is filled with unfamiliar terms and confusing concepts. The only intellectual thing you manage to salvage from what you read is this. "In order to suppress you're magic, you must suppress you're mind" What ever that means. In frustration you put away the book.

What next?

>Demons
>Bond magic
>D.B.D.A history
>Simple spells
>Accepting bounties
>>
>>322300
>Bond magic
Try to figure out the specifics of our connection, and how we can manipulate it.

I gotta go, I'll continue this thread some other time. Thanks for reading so far! For my first quest I think I did okay. See yah

Thanks for running OP.

(If anyone at all is still reading this, I'm back)

Slowly you open the cover to a book title Bond Magic, and what you need to know

The first paragraph reads

Bond magic in it's most simple explanation, is a connection between two life forms. A bond cannot consist of more than or less than two living beings. Bonds can only be created with humans older than 3 years of age. The key element to creating a bond is an Edart. (The book shows a picture of a long silver rod, much like the one Cara owns.) In Edart is needed in order to conduct ones life magic and give it to another living being.

Ones mark reflects ones magical ability. My using an Edart you bring a little ones magical potential to the surface of the skin. Some people have reported feeling a slight tingling sensation while using a lot of magic, though it is not confirmed. After a bond is created, if it is not undone within 3 days, it will last forever and cannot be removed. To remove a bond one must touch their bond mark to the other bond mark, then it will disappear.

Uses for bond magic
With a bond, one can know the location of the other bond member no matter the conditions.
If one bond member dies, all of the members magical potential is transferred into the remaining bond member. A bond member may never kill the other member, no matter the circumstances.

The book goes on to talk about mind fluctuations and magical capacity of ones inner self, you decide to stop reading.

You start to become scared you will be found out after hours.

What Now?
>Demons
>D.B.D.A history
>Simple spells
>Accepting Bounties
>Leave

>Leave
Cara can tell us the rest. I'm off to sleep now though. I'd recommend starting a new thread if you decide to run again some time in the next few days OP.
