time to start the weapon argument again :^)
>>
>>251057
We decided last thread that we would use Boomerangs.

This isn't disputable or up for any sort of discussion.
>>
>>251068
Seconding the second coming of Sokka, now with Rituals!
>>
>>251048
Immediately buy a boomerang and a Staff to prevent all weapon REEEEEEE-ing
>>
>>251086
No REEEEEIng is possible as

IT HAS BEEN DECIDED

YOU HEAR ME YOU LURKING PUNKS?

ITS OVER DAMN IT!
>>
>>251110
>implying that'll stop anyone

that said, boomerangs don't work how you people think they do
>>
>>251048
I've been waiting 32 hours for your return OP you better not Jew me I expect your undivided attention and constant replies ok babe?
>>
>>251124
I'm Australian.

Continue with your boomerang lecture.

I'm holding a boomerang right now,

Continue.
>>
>>251057
I don't want to argue anymore but could we please buy a ballista later once we learn how to summon weapons? People already came up with decent 6 line poems.
>>
>>251139
Ok LATER

we boomerang now.
>>
>>251139
We'd need to learn the Ritual Element for "Weapon" or "Space" to either summon the weapon or summon something like a removable space to store the weapon.
>>
>>251137
boomerangs don't return if they actually do anything

The boomerangs used for hunting didn't return, they were basically rabbit sticks

The boomerangs that do return aren't made to hunt with, and were actually made as a toy

Hitting something with a boomerang causes the boomerang to fall to the ground

Having an air elemental hold the boomerangs would be less effective than a fire elemental burning shit with fireballs

t. Australian
>>
>>251145
Playermade votes don't count, faggot.
>>
>>251158
It's something pretty out of our league at the moment.

But it will make for a pretty awesome Noble Phantasm Ultimate Ability.
>>
>>251177
I'm aware of this, we would use a weighted hunting boomerang with a winds elemental imbued within allowing it to return to us, you know like MAGIC? It's perfect and we have had like 6 votes towards it senpai.
>>
Also, as a headsup: If I am reading the previous thread correctly we have 36 gold 38 silver before booking an unknown number of nights at the Dorter hotel for 5 silver a night.

Again for simplicity - Available funds:
36 gold 38 silver
Minus 5x (x = number of nights in hotel)
>>
>>251193
but that would use our only spells to make a meh tier weapon. Instead of having a living statue or a woman made of fire, we'd have a stick.

Plus all the other weapons have had plenty of votes for them, and don't cripple our character to make him defenseless
>>
>>251212
Doesn't John have like 15 gold from his whoring
>>
>>251217
This conversation ain't happening as we've reached a consensus sorry senpai.

These things can always change.
>>
>>251221
Yeah he was popular with the house wives. Can't blame them either, when someone that good looking is around you just kinda swoon on your own.

Are we sharing a room with John?
>>
>>251217
I think people are just tired of the arguing and want some kind of consensus. Tbh, OP has to be the one to put this to an official vote before anything is actually decided on.
>>
>>251068
>>251080
>>251086
>>251110
You rest a while at the hotel and have lunch (the room service is impeccable). You then head out to see the sights and spend some money.

The city is beautiful. The glass spires are scattered like giant stalagmites and reflect the pure blue of the sky. The movement of people is ubiquitous and constant. You remember going to New York once on a family trip and getting bumped around in Times Square, it's a lot like that, but with stranger people walking around. Groups of people which don't belong together are laughing (or trumpeting or clicking their mandibles or performing complex sign language) together. Wizards like you are riding on the shoulders of giant spirit summons. Wind mages are just flying through the air like superheros. It's chaos and you love it.

Unlike the other towns you've visited, there are no stalls in the streets. Instead you are led to a giant bazaar where tradesmen are selling their ware en masse. You look around the various stalls with John (yet again this feels suspiciously like a date, but you reassure yourself that John, is not in fact, a faggot).

A weapon stall selling boomerangs catches your eye. They are made from bone and metal with intricate symbols and drawings lining the border of the instrument.
"You have a good eye young master" Says a green chimpanzee. Well, he doesn't actually say it, he signs it with his chimp hands. His mouth, a mosquito-like proboscis isn't conducive to human speech, but you understand him anyway.
"How much?"
"Depends on what your looking for young master, this one here (he takes out a large one) is made from Kupeta bone -- very strong -- the edge is steel, human made. Or if you're looking for something a bit more portable, this one, is very easy carry, Khat bark, unbreakable against metal and magic. In fact the only way you can shape khat...is with Khat! Now then, young master what are you looking for?"

>"Something cheap"

"Tell me more about these two."
"Of course, young master, what is it you'd like to know?"
"Well for starters what are their properties?"
"Well Kupeta bone comes from the great Kupeta, winged predators of the Noutrian desert. They are light, as you can see (it is indeed, surprisingly light) as the bones are hollow, but strong as a dwarf's fingernails! As for the Khat wood. It comes from the great Khatik trees of the southern tundras. No one knows how they grow, not even the wizards that take the holy pilgrimage there to study them and fashion staves from their fallen limbs. Magic they are, young master, but old magic, unknown magic. They cannot be destroyed by any force, save themselves."
"And how much?"
"Ah, young master, who can put a price on safety and good craftsmanship? 30 gold pieces for the Kupeta bone, 90 for the Khat. A reasonable price, you'll agree."
Like hell that's a reasonable price.

"Pst, John, handle this."
"What?"
"Haggle. Try something." John shrugs and haggles with the chimpsquito. He lowers his prices by 15% after a lengthy conversation about his homeland and culture.

That brings the price down to 76 gp and 50 sp for the Khat one and 25 gp and 50 sp for the Kupeta one.

we could probably find a blacksmith with a quest to get a free or reduced price weapon

And later in the game, I'd be all for heading to the place with Khatik trees. Can you imagine how good it would be as anitmage armor? Plus, we might be able to turn it into a fabric so it doesn't look like armor

"Young master, if these do not please you, I have more...available goods. Look at these, cow bone, very cheap just 3 gold. Or I also have steel and iron and wood. 9, 6 and 2 gold (with the discount of course). They are heavier and won't last as long as Khat or Kupeta bone, but they are weapons all the same."

I like it since it should be a good DEX weapon which will allow for good stats on bow use later if we go that way. It looks sturdy enough to block if it has to, not saying we should, at least more so than a rapier. It's all about movement and parrying so DEX would play well to it and to keeping us out/away from harm.

Not getting the invisible tassels bit, could you explain? Sounds interesting.

Working on that Spreadsheet for making rituals. hopefully have a prototype in a few hours to test. Saving the Archivist name for archiving after significant event(s)

Why are you all so obsessed with melee and dex? We're a WIZARD. Focus on INT/WIS and grab a staff to bind elementals to for range. Get a sword or shit for emergencies if you want, but why are we abandoning our archetype for bows and shit? We're not a rogue.
>>
2 Hours in and we've practically done nothing but argue about weapons.

sigh,
>>
>>251723
tassels are an easily removable part of a weapon, made to distract a person during a fight. However, we could enchant them to make the weapon invisible, which would obviously be harder to block. Obviously we don't want to have to get into sword fights that often(or at all), but being a wizard is all about using cheap tricks to win
>>

They have a huge hard on for the whole "Class doesn't matter!!! We MUST use a bow!!" hybrid thing.

Forget all that.

Just get a simple wizard staff.

QM fiat pls make an executive decision as us peasants are too pathetic and misguided to come to a consensus.
>>
>>251775

We can only summon one (1) elemental a day. To make a staff useful for range, we need to use that elemental. Until we get more, its a waste. Meanwhile, a bow can deal damage even if it doesn't have a elemental in it.

a wizard weapon is anything a wizard uses. There's no class restrictions to what weapon we can use, and bows work better than staves.

>>251779
we're agreeing that the different swords would all be cool. Any sword would be better than a boomerang, i'll agree with that. I don't see the need for one
>>
>>251805
We can bind elementals to things for multiple days dude. YOu really, REALLY think that we can only ever have one elemental at a time? Stop that.

We can summon one, bind it to our staff, then tomorrow summon literally any elemental because we haven't used our summon. Then we can do the same thing the next day. an the next. and the next. Until the day, a month in the future, when we need to spend the daily summon on binding it back to the staff.

AND EVEN THEN. That's ONLY if we cant bind a spirit or soemthing DIRECTLY to the staff to go around the 1/day limit.

AND EVEN THEN That's only if the on/day limit is permanent, which it's not, because we can write summon elemental into our book a second time to use it more than once per day.

And, again, even then, we can STILL use the staff as an actual weapon considering quarterstaves can be used to parry and strike people.
>>
>>251822
but why a staff. It's a stick without the enchantment. Meanwhile, we can use a bow for ranged damage no matter if we have an enchantment. With an enchantment, one will be even more effective.

And learning to use a quarterstaff takes just as long to learn, while requiring even more stat investment to be useful. It's a blunt force weapon, which will require massive levels of Con

Except a staff is the definitive "Wizard" weapon. It stands to reason that there WILL be perks specifically for using one.

Adiitionally, given that they are, in fact, a quintessential wizard weapon, as shown by the other dude saying that the magic wood is used for wizard staves, it stands to reason that most, if not all, staves are built specifically to receive and boost bindings and enchantments. Or boost our magic and rituals in general.

Seriously, we have no reason whatsoever to go for a bow beyond "It'll be good at range", which a staff could do just as easily while doubling as a defensive melee weapon.

Plus, a wizard staff would be a weapon running off of INT/WIS so we'd need less of a massive investment into DEX, which would boost our rituals.

> It's a stick without the enchantment
Yeah. A stick built purely for wizards. So it probably helps wizards more than a bow, built for rogues and rangers.

>>251853
No, I'm not even arguing against boomerange, just saying that a staff is a better choice.
>>
>>251860
gee, you know what else is made of wood?

BOWS

And if you can make a piece of wood that boosts magic, you can apply the exact same thing to any other weapon
>>
>>251885
>gee, you know what else is made of wood?
...what? When was "being built of wood" a factor in my argument?

And it stands to reason most bows are going to be marketed/aimed at people that receive perks for using them.

I'm not even against a bow, I just think a staff would be a decent thing to have given they are literally made for wizards.

Hell, we have cash. fucking get both, who cares.
>>
Fuck it. QM can we go to a general "Weapons Shop" that has some low end (affordable) staves? Just so we can get a proper info dump on how each thing works? Make an informed decision instead of rampant speculation on BOTH sides.
>>
>>251901
At this point we should just get both.
Grab a Staff for ritual casting, we could probably work it into casting somehow to lower cost for rituals we make so we can cast better ones easier.
Grab a bow so we can plink at shit from range.
Bam, everyone's happy.

From now on, as long as John is in your party, I'll assume he's already bartered, and lower the price accordingly)

You pay the dwarf. He removes a hair from his mandibles and jiggles it into the opening of the lock. It opens.

Alas the journal is written in code which even with your intelligence you cannot decipher. There are also intricate diagrams and drawings of what look like rituals.

The first page reads:

Journal of WizofOz

An hour passes while you fiddle around with the cipher. You head for the entrance of the bazaar to meet Lelogas. He's waiting there, looking more or less the same as when you saw him last. Except that Robin is hanging by his arm.
"Ah Bob! Nice to you see again. Here's the stone."
"No hard feelings Bob?" says Robin. You just nod.
"And who's your companion?"
"Oh, this...John. He's a cleric. I met him at Olekstead and we decided to party together."
"Nice to meet you John. When did you arrive?"
"Only a few days ago, I'm new to the game."
What the fuck is going on right now? Why is Robin here? Lelogas notices your confusion.
"I know what you're thinking, Robin and I, after a long discussion...have reconciled and are back together." He leans in and whispers: "We've been...celebrating our reunion for the past few days, which is why I kept the PM's off. Sorry about that." So Lelogas was busy dicking his ex, the asshole. You look at Robin. Well, you guess you're more jealous than angry.

"Listen Lelogas, I have info you might be interested in." The both of you reenter the bazaar, merchants are lighting lanterns to resist the coming dark.
"Oh? What's up?"
"I met with someone on the wurmride here. He told me that death in the game doesn't actually kill you. According to him, you just go back to the character creation screen."
"Are you serious? Who told you this?" Lelogas grabs you, his grip is strong.
"I-I don't remember his name. But it's the truth."
"Thank god. Thank god." Tears flow unchecked down Lelogas's face. Robin looks concerned but Lelogas says nothing.
"You're sure you don't remember who it was?"
"No." Why are you lying?
"It wasn't RealOG was it?"
"No I'm sure of that."
"Ok. I-I have to go...thank you, Bob. I'll remember this."
"Uhh...yeah, no problem." He drags Robin away. Strange. You forgot to ask him about the journal.

You shop around a little more. The market is kept open till midnight, but you head home before then. You end up buying a wooden staff and a steel arming sword for 8 gp in total (you made sure to buy from women so John could work his charm). The sword is a standard issue weapon, nothing special about it. But the staff -- its a long, white shard fashioned from Fanti ivory and such has its parent's property of never forgetting anything you tell it. You can whisper an incantation to it and it will store it in its memory forever, allowing you to cast it immediately and without your spellbook. Alas, unlike the Fanti, the ivory can only hold one memory at a time. Once it speaks the incantation, its memory clears and you must tell it again.

You have dinner at the hotel and spend another night.

However, because of the extreme danger, I do not recommend this to anyone but the most experienced of travelers."
"I see. Any other news in town?"
"Well, sir, I'm sure you've heard about the Seaball World Cup that's taking place? They say that King Show himself will be gracing us with his presence this year, all the way from the floating city of Notren! They say he wears a mask because he is so beautiful, that to look upon him, is to fall in love." King Show...could that be Phil A. Show? The number 1 player? So he's a king too...interesting.

You explore a town a bit looking for fellow wizards to use your copycat perk on. John decides to go shopping for some items, you agree to meet back for dinner.

There aren't any wizards actively performing rituals in broad daylight. However, there are street performers, (not wizards, as far as you can tell) that perform rituals to entertain. Their effects are trivial, usually binding or summoning the spirit of a dead relative or famous person to an object (usually a crystal ball) to allow the audience a conversation with the spirit. Observing these performers closely you manage to pick up two new ritual effects and three new ritual conditions:

Ritual Creation

Maximum Complexity: 32

1. Choose an effect
You know of the following effects:
- Summon [5]
- Contract [5]
- Bind [5]
- Lesser [5]
- Common [10]
- Uncommon [20]
- Elemental [5]
- Spirit [5]

2. Choose a condition(s)
- Time
>No Repeats [3]
>Lasts till nearest event (medium) [4]
>Lasts till sunset [8] (3)
- Space
- Material
>Essence of creature (common) [2]
>Gold (low) [2]
- Action
>Draw Runes (simple) [4]
>Speak Incantations (Difficult) [17] (9)
>Dance (trivial) [2]
>Dance (simple) [4]
>>
>>252303
Make new ritual, and cast it to make sure it works:
Effect:
Summon 5
Common 10
Elemental 5

Conditions:
Dance (simple) 4
Speak Incantations 17

Assuming that that's how it works, and all. Also, could you add perks to the character sheet?
>>
>>252303
At dinner John shows you his purchases:

A small bag, big enough to hold a quart of water, which can hold an infinite number of things, so long as the size of the object is not bigger than the bag itself. (This cost John 14 gp, after a lengthy haggle.)

A set of iron gauntlets (80 sp) which John promptly enchanted to be light as a feather and stronger than steel.

A round shield made of oxhide and iron (35 sp), which he also enchanted. He also had the iron edges sharpened at a blacksmith (50 sp). He wants you to bind a spirit to the shield so that it can "...you know like fight by itself and return to my hand and stuff."
"Return to your hand?" He blushes.
"Like...if I throw it."

The next day you:

>>

Which elemental? Or will you make a new ritual first and then bind? Or wait until you kill a more powerful enemy and bind its spirit?

Your current binding ritual only binds for 33 hours (5+Wis) and uses a lesser elemental. Bind Fallen Foes works until the next full moon
>>
>>252392
Wind elemental. This will be like practice so it's find that it only lasts for a little while.
>>
>>252392
Well, lets tell him that we can do it next time we kill a tough enemy, and ask him to remind us.

Also, have we received official word on what those scrolls are? Are they legible/usable anymore, or did the blood just ruin them? If so we should search out a way to recover the contents.

You tell John you'll enchant his shield. He's delighted.

You summon an empowered Wendy then immediately recite the poem to bind her to the shield. She gets sucked into the shield it begins to glow a pale green. John examines it cautiously.
"How long am I gonna be stuck in here mistah wizard?" says the shield. John almost drops it.
"Uhh, not long. A day or two. You'll be helping John"
"Well alright. Nicetameetya John."
"Y-yes, likewise."
"So should I call you Captain America from now on?" John blushes.
"S-shut up. He's my favorite superhero. So how do I use it -- er -- her?" On cue the shield rushes out from John's hand and floats in the air, spins like a top and then returns back to his hand. "Oh, well...that explains that." You leave John to test out his shield and:

It'll also take 6 days to research (12 if you didn't have your researcher perk). Do you want to commit?

Shouldn't common only require the incantation, while Uncommon requires both? Do both, if we can.

Fuck it, have another shitty poem, hopefully not as shit as the one for binding I put up:
Heed my call,
Big elemental
So I won't fall
To these guys
Don't drop the ball
Drop them like flies

And for the Uncommon one, if we research both:
Heed my call,

So I won't fall
To these guys
Don't drop the ball
Drop them like flies

You always test out your stuff to see what effects they have beforehand. Cut your hand to see if one of them is a healing potion and have John nearby in case you need proper healing.

You pour some of the yellow, foul smelling liquid out into a glass (courtesy of the hotel) and then some of the red liquid on top of that. There is a popping sound, like fire-crackers and then all a hissing.Immediately the concoction bubbles and green smoke erupts out of the glass, blinding you. Then all is silent.

You wait for the blinding effect to pass...but several minutes later you still cannot see anything. You call up your character sheet, you can see it in your minds eye, but your vision is gone!

You start to panic but your cold intellect takes over. John will be home soon. He can heal me. John does come. You tell him what happened. He examines your eyes and you feel him recoil.
"What's wrong? What is it?"
"Its...your eyes...their all black." Oh shit. Shit shit shit.
"Can you heal them?"
"I just tried, but the ether is isn't going into the spot." FUUUUUUCK.

"H-hold on. We're in the capital of magic, I'm sure there's someone here who can help you."
"Fuck. I don't wanna be blind man." You actually start crying.
"It's gonna be ok Bob, don't worry. We'll go see someone right now. Come on, you really the game creators made blindness be permanent? Don't be silly. Come on man, don't worry. We got this." You wipe your nose.
"Thanks John. Sorry."
"It's cool man. It's all good. I'm gonna head out and look for someone that can help."
"Take the beakers, maybe it'll help if you have them."
"Sure. Be right back, just stay here ok?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I'll wait. Thanks, man."
"Don't mention it." He leaves and the room is silent. What the actual fuck.

A few hours later you hear John at the door and perk up like a lost puppy.
"Bob, I brought someone who thinks they can help. This is --"
"Lavozieh. No one of import, I assure you. Now then young man, John tells me you mixed a health poultice with the blood of a hydra. I don't know what you were attempting to make, but I can tell you that it was a bad idea." No fucking shit, you're fucking blind!
"Can you help me?"
"I can. However." Fuck."there is a minor issue, a small task, academic in nature and I would be very appreciative--" Fuuuck. "--If you would help me with it." FUUUUCK. Never anything for free. What happened to love thy neighbor?

"Alright. I'll do whatever you want. Just cure me."
"Certainly, young man, be still. The way to cure hydra poison is to inject a mix of fermented owlwasp honey and cow dung. Now this will hurt a bit." He injects a fucking needle into your eye. It takes all you have to keep from screaming as loud as you possibly can. "Ok...that should do it. Your vision will return in 12 hours as the mix filters into the blood vessels and attaches to the poison. Be sure to drink plenty of water and try to bundle up and keep yourself warm, as the poison will leave your body through sweat."
You can already feel some of your vision come back. A wave of relief and pleasure falls from the crown of your head to your stomach like a cool breeze. "I'll be back tomorrow to discuss the...task. Take care young man, John."
"Thank you Professor Lavozieh." Says John.
"Please, call me Lawrence, only my students call me professor, haha. Take care and remember, water and heat."

As the good professor stated, water and heat did the trick. You bundled up in several layers of blankets and you sweat out the poison. By morning most of your vision has returned, but things a medium to far distance away are blurry. There's also a pale yellow discoloration hovering around other people.

Lawrence rolls around during breakfast to speak with you about his "task". He walks with the gait of the rich, and his clothes have the mark of the wealthy, with plenty of ruffles and silk.
"How're the eyes?"
"Better. Thank you."
"My pleasure -- no, garcon I've already eaten (to a waiter that handed him a menu) -- now then, about my task, it's really a simple thing, but it must be done...discreetly....you understand?"
"What is it you want us to do?"
"I need you to plant some documents in the office of Marah."
"Who's Marah?"
"Jean Marah. He's no one. Just a colleague with whom I've had some...shall we say 'less-than-cordial' relations. These documents are of a sensitive nature and must be deposited with the utmost secrecy and discretion. If you are caught, you must not reveal that it was me who hired you. No matter what, that point is crucial. Do you understand?"
"Yes. Where is this Jean Marah's office?"
"In the Town Courthouse." Shit.
"He's not a senator is he?" Lavozieh looks down at his hands. SHIT. "Are you fucking kidding me? You want us to --"
"Keep your voice down man!" You lower your voice to a whisper "-- you want me to plant some clearly criminal documents on a senator? I don't know what the penalty for that is here, but I can't assume its a slap on the fucking wrist."
"Penalty or no penalty, Mr. Pooper, you and I had an agreement. I kept my end of the bargain,

"Tell me Lawrence, what exactly do you teach?"
"I am a professor of Alchemy and I conduct research at Dorter Institute of Magic, or DIM, as it's called."
"I see. Well I will do this task for your, Lawrence, but I want something more"
"This wasn't part of our agreement pesa--ahem--Bob."
"Be that as it may, if I'm going to be taking such considerable risks, its only fair that I also get some reward."
"Oh is your eyesight not enough? Fine, how much do you want?"
"It's not gold I want, Lawrence. I want you to teach me the rudiments of Alchemy."
"You're joking right? The idiot that handled hydra poison without so much as safety glasses wants me to teach him alchemy. Are you out of your mind?"
"Those are my terms Lavozieh. I will not budge from them." He looks away considering your proposal. At last he nods.
"Fine. Fine. I'll see about getting you a temporary pass, you can take classes with the rest of the students."
"No. I want personal instruction. Man to man."
"Alright! Fine! But you should know my time is quite valuable."
"Yeah yeah. So do you have a description of this Marah's office?"
"It's room number 31A. Just ask the receptionist. You must put the documents inside his desk. Now it'll most likely be locked, you must open the lock without showing any signs of a break in. This is a crucial point. Then you must leave without arousing any suspicion. He is not in during lunchtime, which he begins exactly at noon, that is your...what they call it? "In"? Yes. The rest of the details I leave up to you. Now then, here are the documents." He takes out a sheaf of papers.
"I'm counting on you."

What will you do first?
>>
>>253595
First we scope the place out. See what kind of lock it is. Then we can ask Robin the thief for help and advice.
>>
>>253599
>>253599
sounds good
mybe if we wiat we could use wendy to send the docments in without geting inside the place
>>
>>253595
We need to go get the hair of a dwarf, we need 2 of them infact, to open and seal the lock.
>>
>>253595
now that we know what happens whe nwe mix the too could we make a hand bomb from it and ether use it as a wepon or trade the idea for moneys? it/?
>>
We didn't need such a high level teacher for Alchemy 101, but it works.
>>253785
We'll learn how to make bombs in alchemy classes.

We need to train lock-picking or hire a thief. Contact Lelogas or if blocked find a guild.
>>
Could we summon an elemental? Either Wendy if it's been 33 hours, or the yet-unseen water elemental? Let them slip through the lock and get the door from the other side? Probably be wards against just such a thing, but worth a shot
>>
>>253595
>>253599
>Then we can ask Robin the thief for help and advice.

This for sure. She stole from us and in return we got her and Lelogas back together, she does kind of owe us. Sure, she wanted his bow, but what she really wanted was him. Her setup probably would've gotten us killed instead if we weren't already friends with him and didn't do what we did.
>>
>>253919
So its confirmed Robin isn't a player since she didn't know what the recall stone did...so I guess Lelogas just really enjoys using the best sex doll ever.
Also lelogas confirmed for having bonded with another player, watched them die, then killed their attacker. Only thing that explains him having extra recall stones to give away (when they're super rare) and that outburst in the market
>>
>>253919
>>253599
>>253711
If you're gonna do this, you'll need an expert. You PM Lelogas, requesting Robin's help. She agrees to help you as a favor to Lelogas. Meanwhile she instructs you to scope out the location, paying special attention any magical security devices and the number of people on guard.

You head for the Courthouse. It's a white, marble edifice with a large dome and marble minarets. Thick pillars hold up the entire structure. Inside, the floors are made of cloudy glass, partially reflecting everything above them. Every one here is in a hurry. There are people -- groups actually -- wearing white togas. They have a regal bearing; you guess that these guys are the senators.

"Excuse me sir, can I help you?" Says the receptionist
"Yeah, I'm looking for Marah's office."
"Senator Marah's office is room 31A. Do you have an appointment?"

>"Yes" (lie)
>"No, but..."
>"I'm an old friend, I thought I'd surprise him" (mega lie)

Use the WizOfOz's journal as bait to get inside. John should be able to handle this.
>>
Is John powerful enough to regrow limbs?
>>
>>254988
Oh he's a senator not a professor.
>Yes
>>
>>254960
>going to the courthouse alone
>Not taking John with us to distract the receptionist
>Not noting what workers in the area wear
>Not borrowing a cleaning outfit, tools, or something and just walking in as if we belong
>not staying completely confident the whole time so nobody feels like challenging us

Well shit. I don't think this will end very well for us.

>"Yes" (Lie)
>>
>>254960
>>255062
Yeah, I assumed we'd take John with us everywhere since our charisma is shit.

>"No, but..."
"I'm a wizard here to offer my services. Does he have any errands he needs personally delivered?"

>>"No, but..."
>"I'm a wizard here to offer my services. Does he have any errands he needs personally delivered?"

Right, I forgot that senators might want adventurers to do errands. Changing >>255062
to this.
>>
>>255108
>>255139
I second these
>>
>>255108
>>255139
John is with you.

"I'm a wizard here to offer my services. Does Senator Marah have any errands he needs personally attended to?"
"Ah, excellent! Yes...(he rifles through some papers, then frowns), unfortunately Senator Marah has not requested any help. However, Senator Gaius needs someone to attend to an errand. You can speak to him now if you wish, I can give you a temporary pass to allowing you access to the offices. That'll be 3 gold pieces for the pass."
"That's a bit expensive don't you think?"
"The Senators pay quite well, more than enough to cover this cost. It's a way to prevent...less reputable people from entering such sensitive quarters, I'm sure you understand."

>Give him the money
>"I changed my mind, I'm no ones errand boy"
>Other
>>
>>255196

Let's pray that Gaius doesn't get alerted that we're on our way, and to 'expect us soon.'

>Pass by all the offices and scope out security
>Then see Senator Gaius Paleius
>>
>>255196

>>255196

I second this, but have John try to get us a discount. He's charming enough, even against a male clerk.
>>
>>255196
>>Give him the money
>Quickly glance in Marah's office if the door is open and we have to walk by
>Don't open the door yet if closed
>Pay attention to all surroundings either way in case something stands out to help us later, like comparing common security measures.

We can pop our heads in later or accidentally get lost returning to Gaius after our business for him is concluded. We already asked for Marah by name, we should try to keep a low profile and not rush things too much.
>>
>>255204
>>255216
>>255212
"Very well, here's your gold."
"Excellent. Here is your pass (it's a round metal token with the symbol of a dome on it). Show it to the guards to enter the office quarters, they're through the doors to the left. Good luck!"
You walk over to the doors. Two burly looking guards with halberds are standing by the door.
You flash the pass and they nod. A long hallway with doors on either side. It looks like any other bureaucratic building, it reminds you of your high school. To your surprise there are no guards patrolling the inside hallway, but all the doors are firmly locked. You look at the door numbers trying to find 31A. It's deep in the building and takes a few minutes of walking to find.

Marah has a corner office, which probably means he's high up in the food chain. However, it also means there are windows leading into his office. You put your ear to the door, but cannot hear anything.
"What time is it?" You ask John.
"What? Uh...I don't know, around noon?" That could mean Marah is out for lunch. You try the door...locked. But you can't see any magical security measures.

You:
>Try summoning a water spirit and having them slip through the cleft of the door to the floor
>Leave this place and find Gaius
>Wait for Marah to return to accost him
>Try to break in by yourself
>Other
>>
>>255250

Our opportunity will come, it's important to get a lay out of the room itself for robin as well as any security measures inside. We can't blow it now.

Patience. You release the door and head back to Gaius's room (which you passed earlier). You knock at the door. A few moments later a balding middle aged man wearing a white toga opens the door.
"Are you the errand boy?"
"Yes. How can I --"
"Wait here." He slips back in and comes out with a stack of papers. "I need you to distribute these flyers throughout the city. I don't care how you do it, just so long as it's quick. Here." He you hands you a purse, inside which is 15 gp. The receptionist wasn't lying. "If you get it done before closing time, I'll double it. Now get going!" And he slams the door in your face. Rude.

You:
>Throw the flyers in the trash and spend the day planning the break in with Robin
>Spend the day distributing by hand
>Distribute them by some other means

>>Distribute them by some other means
We're a wizard. Summon our Wind elemental, common or uncommon if we can, and just tell them to spread them among the city.
>>
>>255283
>Distribute them by some other means
By means of elemental or Cap's shield, either or
>>
>>255291
Agreed. We should have more than one elemental of each type summonable.

Also OP, on what floor of the building are we on?
>>
>>255283
>>Distribute them by some other means
Elemental.
>>
>>255283
Have our win elemental do it. They can also look through the office window while doing this to avoid drawing unneeded suspicion.
>>
>>255283
>>Distribute them by some other means

Elemental and/or the shield as >>255298 said. Maybe split the stack three/four ways so you and John can pass them out too.
>>
>>255291
>>255298
>>255304
Well you're a wizard, and wizards never do things the hard way. You head outside and summon a lesser wind elemental. It looks about the same as Wendy, but more...masculine and it introduces itself as "Gus".

You give him the papers and tell him to scatter them every other block. He flies off to do just that. Meanwhile you head back to the hotel to meet with Robin.

Robin is waiting for you at the reception area. You head out to a nearby restaurant to eat lunch and plan the break-in.
"So, you scoped out the place? What's are we working with?"
"Two guards at the entrance to the hallway. Then a lock at the door."
"Magical?"
"I don't think so."
"And?"
"And its a corner office."
"So, windows..."
"Yep."
"Bottom floor?"
"Yes ma'am" She nods.
"Alright, I think we might be able to pull this off. We're gonna need glass cutters for the windows"
"*sigh* How much?"
"10 gold should do it. Palms to grease and silence to buy. Not cheap."

You pay her with the purse you got from the senator. "Great. I'll be back here tomorrow once I've scoped out the windows and purchased the cutter."
"Now hold on a minute, won't that leave behind a mark?"
"No worries, you'll see tomorrow."

You finish your lunch. Gus returns to tell you the task has been done. You head back to the Town Courthouse.
"Finished already? Good. Looks like they hired someone competent for once. Here's your gold. (another purse of 15 gp, maybe you should consider running for senator). I don't have anymore jobs, but if I do I'll let the receptionist know to refer you."
"Thank you sir."
"Yes, yes." And he slams the door. Fucking rude.

You and John part ways. John heads to the market to buy and sell some goods. You head back to the hotel to masturbate to the mental image of a naked Robin. As you pass through the street, you're accosted by a hooded man in a black robe. His face is completely hidden by his hood and at his hand he holds a long staff -- the wood still flowering whatever tree it was taken from. He grabs your shoulder. On his hand is a ring with a bright purple gem.
"Young man. You have something I require." His voice is deep, yet familiar.
"W-what is it? Who are you?"
"The journal. You have it don't you? Give me the journal, young man, I will pay you handsomely." He takes out a fat purse and puts it on your hand. Judging by the weight there's at least 500 gp inside. Your heart beats quicker.

"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't fucking do this Peter --" You freeze. He freezes.
"How the fuck do you know my real name? Who the fuck are you?" You yell. People are now notice the two of you.
