Other then /qa/, there is another secret board with even less users.
The board was never announced and has been kept hidden since January 1st.
Only a handful of users know the board name, I being one of them; however a stickied thread on the secret board made me swear to keep it a secret.
>>
>>80602
What is the board

Also with the Thailandese character set available on some cell phones, you can do this: ดีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีีี่่่่ีีีีุุุ่่่่่่่่่ัััุุุุุุุุุุุุุุุุุุ
>>
>>80602

That is clearly bullshit, but now I'm curious.

Someone write a script that tries every board combination from /aa/ to /zz/. If there's a secret board besides /qa/, we will know.
>>
>>80605
I have heard of /5/ and /z/ but I've tried both of those boards and they are 404
>>
>>80604
>>80605
I really can't tell as its against board rules.
I will say that it was discussed on /qa/ during moots final QA. The link is most likely archived.

The board is also 3 letters /xxx/
Good luck finding it; if you do then make a thread about how you found it. It's kinda like a game of cluedo on there

/yg/ was a yoghurt board and /5/ was a (mod) board where you were only allowed to post images relating to the number of five. (5 ducks, flashing 5's etc.)

Apparently /5/ was baleeted in February of 2006, no idea when it was created though.

/yg/ might have just been a joke board I'm not sure, but it was "created" in (late) 2008 and deleted at the beginning of 2009. At least that's what I recall.

If you highlight the text in someone's post then click on their post number it automatically quotes it for you (green text)
I found that out by accident one day.

If you're using swype on your phone and you get a one word captcha and it has a real word(s) in it you can enter in the letters and swype the words and not worry about the spaces in between. Makes it so much faster.
On two word captchas skip the word that is obviously scanned in from a book etc and type the other one and hit enter.

people were complaining about "/b/'s decline in quality" since late 2004. all the fucking time. every new generation of newfags brings out cries of how "4chan is ruined!", year after year.

source: there's a place dedicated to documenting 4chan history. some threads there date back to 2005. it's hilarious how there are "what went wrong?" threads opened on an almost yearly basis.

protip: don't believe anything 0037 or shii say. they seriously overhype world2ch and exaggerate its role in anything.

another protip: all "IRC logs" from raspberry heaven are fake

yet another protip: don't believe shit on ED either, ED was written mostly around 2007-2009, way after all these events took place. don't trust the bibioanon 4chan chronicle either, ESPECIALLY when it comes to shit before 2006 and after around 2009.

oh god another protip: there are some very interesting sources about 4chan history out there, if you know where and how to look. shit like the tanasinn timeline, 0037's and shii's wikis are just the tip of the iceberg.

final piece of advice: stop nagging snacks every time he posts his shitty /r9k/ thread, it makes you look retarded
>>
>>87599
i consider it better.

anonymous posting was still an option and threads weren't archived so names didn't have such a strong reputation.

besides, 2006 was more when mass use started.
>>
>>87603
>i consider it better.
literally how

it's basically the same shit as what we have today. maybe not /b/ itself but the rest of 4chan, and that's only because all other boards/websites took over /b/'s position.

the final nail in /b/'s coffin actually came only 2 years ago when [s4s] was created. the last real purpose that /b/ fulfilled is being the silly place where stupid stuff happens (a job /b/ failed at spectacularly). but even that was taken from it by the younger and smaller [s4s].
>>
>>87604
certain things like the use of emotes are just nostalgia.

almost all posts are on topic, the one post against the DS ("just get a fucking PDA") has relevant links rather than being a shitpost.
>>
>>87606
take your head out of your ass and look around you

the mods are doing an actually really good job on 4chan all things considered. offtopic stuff gets deleted quickly and regularly

the only reason why people miss "old /b/" is because they miss the old memes (or more likely: feel like they missed out on all the old memes). the only screencaps that go through time to 2015 are those extremely funny ones, which is why it feels like the general quality was higher when in reality "old /b/" is pretty much as inane as modern 4chan.

you want to see what "old /b/" really looked like? take a look at [s4s] RIGHT NOW. the first few pages at this exact moment I write this show exactly the sort of shit that filled that place. the only difference is that /b/ also used to get more serious threads about music and anime and politics and movies and vidya and whatnot. but now we have big boards that cover that stuff exclusively and in more depth, so what's the point?
>>
>>87607
>take a look at [s4s] RIGHT NOW. the first few pages at this exact moment I write this show exactly the sort of shit that filled that place

btw I'm obvious not being literal here. 2005 era 4chan didn't have stupid irony or "le new maymays xD" humor or w/e. but the general spirit of silliness and stupidity is pretty much the same
>>
>>87607
that reply was aimed at the screenshot "2004 v"
you'll note that's /v/, not /b/.

>all things considered
weasel words doesn't help, they're doing a good job with the huge task they are faced with, but /v/ is basically beyond salvation and /b/ isn't overtly breaking the rules.

my problem with /b/ is that it isn't even inane, it's simply boring , it's what would happen if facebook introduced anonymous posting and porn posting.

I wish they'd bring the textboards back. moot mentioned something about features relating to them when he deleted them. Could they be coming back, but a little more polished up? Or maybe even some textboard friendly features on the imageboard?

>there are some very interesting sources about 4chan history
Where would be a place to start?
>>
>>87585
Imagine how pissed these guys are now.
>>

[spoiler]Menchi is Shii and an ex-mod.
0037 seems to have accepted 4chan too.[/spoiler]
>>
>>87596
No, but he apparently still browses 4chan, which makes him one the few active originalfags.
>>
>>89441

Most of them don't care. The only ones who get pissy are people who either take the internet too seriously (yes, including on 4chan, which people seem to have forgotten) or kiddies who get overly invested in one site/are new and need an identity and want the site to reflect that. Shii at one point ran the overchan. So, most of the original fags have splintered off and use more than one imageboard/textboard, because it's the anonymity for most of them and the ability to post freely, not one single site that matters.

And, at the time, those guys were just like the newfags now. Crying and crying about how bad it is only to grow up and see it's not that bad after all.
>>
>>89221
But they weren't deleted.
>>
>>90202
Yeah, but they were still locked. And since they were so dead I doubt they will be brought back. There's still a few options for english speaking textboards, though.
>>
>>90424

The only two I know are 4-ch.net and the sole BBS on world2ch.org as of now.

Probably shouldn't mention them, but virtually no one would care anyhow.

so does /gd/

Am I glad these cancerous niggers disappeared and never became relevant again

There also Wakaba.

That's not even Something Awful you dumbfuck, that's world2ch.
>>

Snacks still posts on r9k? Wut?
>>
>>87601
Wew, Are you an originalfag? Can you sign my boobs?
Also, there seems to be some genuine irc logs. For example the one johnny digital originaly uploaded.
>>

Thank you for this. So much of it I knew, but every so often do things slip through the cracks of my memory.
>>
>>90439
Yes Snacks never has left 4chan. He's an /r9k/ tripfag and always posts his bad radio show.

It's always funny encountering people who've learned about 4chan from ED and such and haven't browsed /r9k/ for a long while. They all seem to worship Snacks like a 4chan god, whereas /r9k/ treats him as a tripfag they tolerate only because he just uses the trip for his radio program. His threads are mostly ignored and his station has almost no listeners. If one day he stopped posting his show the attitude would likely just be ambivalence.

Snacks isnt the legend he's made into on ED. He's literally just an ex-mod and a tripfag.
>>
>>90623
Well I knew he posted on /r9k/ about midnight snax, but I had no idea he was still doing it in 2015. Damn.
>>
>>90623
It's really funny how /r9k/ was all 'meh' about his threads after all those years of 'bring back snacks' and the place he has in the 4chan culture. /b/ would go nuts if they found out he's still here.
>>
Wait, there are people here who wouldn't understand chocolate rain, WT Snacks moot and co, and duck rolling? They were so rec...

Fuck. I'm getting old.

Newfag from '07 here. Can confirm, /b/ was not exactly great then either. One nice thing is your thread didn't 404 in two minutes if it didn't get replies, it wasn't *all* roll threads, and porn wasn't *every* single thread.
>>
>>90644
;_; don't make me listen to this man. Have mercy.
>>
>>90632
I blame ED for making such a big deal out of Snacks
>>
>>90632
Snacks should every now and then advertise his show on /b/ just to gain some listeners now that /mu/ and /r9k/ ignore his terrible taste
>>
>>90649
I'm not sure about that. He was 'memefied' into a ban-hammer wielding anime girl a long time ago. He was pretty famous. Even after he became irrelevant all the fanart creations and flashes lived on. He's even on the banner.
>>
>>90651
>mfw snack became a hardline hipster
>>
>>90654
His station is so bad that more people are in the /r9k/ plug.dj room during his show than he has listeners in a month
>>
>>90655
Does he ever talk on his shows?
>>
>>90656
No he just hangs out in the thread and bullshits, unless he's changed his format since like 2010.

Sure thing.

Let's straighten it up. There currently are:
/new/, which leads to /pol/.
/z/, which is nothing, yet something.
/.%20?/, which is forbidden.
/j/, which is for Mods.
/test/, which is for Mods, too.
/qa/, which is already known to us.
>>
>>90670
/.%20/ is just a forbidden '. '-dir that exists everywhere.
For example: 4chan.org/.%20/ is forbidden and boards.4chan.org/qa/.%20/ is as well.

So we can quite safely conclude /.%20/ is not a board, just a default forbidden directory.

>>90644
I'm pretty new on 4chan (joined febuary 2014), but I know who is Snacks is, and I have know Chocolate rain and Duckroll since it exist.
