4chan has had ongoing issues with shitposting and spamming, and many solutions, whether serious or not, have been proposed for fixing it: deleting /pol/, stricter moderation, banning twitter posts, etc.
4chan Passes were introduced a few years back both as a way for users to skip captchas and for the site to have an additional source of income besides advertising. However, this could be taken a step further: on certain threads or boards, posting could be limited to only those having 4chan Passes.
This would have several benefits; first, moderating the threads or boards would be dramatically simpler as 85% of shitposting would drop (most shitposters wouldn't even bother to buy a Pass in the first place, or else they don't have the money to, even with its low $20 annual fee) and shitposters with a Pass could have their pass revoked, thus throwing $20 down the toilet every time they spam or break the rules on these threads or boards.
A second benefit comes in that this move would encourage more people to buy passes, and in doing so giving the site more money for maintenance and site improvements, better moderation, less reliance on ads, etc.
Third, the content of posts themselves would be much better on boards or threads limited to pass posting only. No more garbage, no more spam, just quality posts. Lurkers could even benefit, as only posting would require a pass, not reading the threads themselves.
What do you think?
>not a single response
Nobody's going to start threads to which nobody would respond.
>paying 20$ for serious discussion on a bhutanese animation workshop
I think it's an excellent idea.

think of it more as 'instead of sifting through hundreds of threads full of garbage for weeks at a time just for an interesting discussion, you can have access to one anytime given you have a 4chan Pass'.
