Other than that, greater enforcement of the existing rules would go a long way, especially GR3 and 6. Posts like pic related, for example, need to be stopped and cleaned up.
And bans should be public. In order for people to realize that /g/ is not to be treated as a second /b/, they have to SEE that it's not acceptable.

And if gpufags want to post in coding threads, then that shall be what happens. Actually, it is better for that to happen. Nothing god ever comes from everyone being isolated. All the good conversations come when everyone is forced together, even if they hate each others guts. Threads also don't have topics, only a conversation.
Discussion can and does happen in those cases and it is generally the highest quality. But I wouldn't expect someone who thinks generals are the only way to have 'real' discussion to be able to understand that or the ways 4chan works.

There are two main problems:
1. Generals are nothing more than people trying to nigger-rig their own user-created subboards, and you know it. They even give them names and try to assign them their own rules. Does this sound familiar at all? Like something a certain other site is known for? 4chan isn't supposed to be like that; we're supposed to be better than that. That whole mindset is indeed cancerous here. Or maybe you'd rather we just implement user accounts and upvoting/downvoting while we're at it?
2. Boards and threads are not the same thing! Hell, even subreddits are still proper boards in their own right. A single thread is not a board or subboard; it doesn't function the same way, and was never meant to.
