Fucking why? It's happening on the smaller boards too. They're just completely disregarding the board and thread they're in and engaging with an anon or two about stupid political nonsense.
At least /v/ermin stick to their board for the most part and are insanely beta outside of /v/. /pol/ might be topping /v/ as my personal least favorite board on the site.

Notice how anons were all being cool and just complying with the OP, not just telling him to gtfo or accusing him of being /pol/ before it just goes into complete off-topic territory.
This is simply a symptom of the... pendulum.
We were right wingers, then that ran out of steam and it swung back, through moderation, into left-wingers, and now that has lost steam, we've actually already go back through moderation (the internet makes this happen faster and faster and faster as time has gone on), and we're going back ti right-wingerdom.

I started coming here in 2003, not that there's anything believable about that. And I was speaking of a trend on a larger scale than 4chan. It is outright cultural. Across the whole thing.
It's why we keep fucking going Republican, Democrat, Republican, Democrat, Republican, Democrat.
Obviously 4chan reflects the dominant trends, even if it wants to be contrarian and edgy; You are going to see the reality through it, regardless.
