As someone who sees this shit far more rampant in places like /vp/ which are notoriously filled to the brim in newfags, it's definitely a sign. Doesn't immediately mean you are a newfag as some internet speak lingers no matter how long you've been browsing but it's definitely a sign.

My post here is going to be pretty pointless given how shit and bottom of bottom 4chan is anyway, its more of a hindsight-retrospect post of how it should have been, but whatever here I go.
The problem with these imported hype terms that flood 4chan time to time is the classic pretending to be idiots brings in the real idiots thing. It lowers posting quality and attracts people no one originally wanted, they'll see familiar vocabulary and going to feel at place. Many many years, or well something like a decade ago when 4chan lingo was fairly internal and independent it only caused confusion to outsiders at time.
This whole issue can be further generalised. Words are powerful thing and it doesn't matter if you use them ironically or sarcastically. They create an enviroment of acceptance.
I don't want to go too far here but imho many certain stuff thats thought as a bane to our boards were just ignored from the beginning we wouldn't be where we are.
