/co/ was made to be shit by its user wanting it to a secondary board for other boards like /v/ and /a/, even to the point that mods were protecting that. Also since western shit was banned from the porn boards, people naturally went to /co/ for it. This could have been solved long ago but mods and moot chose to ignore the obvious problems of trying to make a western comics/cartoon version of /a/ while not giving it the boards and the moderation that helped make /a/ work. /aco/ should have been made the same time /co/ was and /co/ users should have been never encouraged to make offtopic threads about subjects from /a/, /v/, /tv/, and other content that didn't have a board back then like Toku/Kamen Rider.

I like discussing certain comics and the old X-Men storytimes (and other long form ones) are great. The entire fucking board needs to be split at this point though with comics, cartoons and cape TV/film shit all getting their own boards because the latter two are cancerous, especially cape TV/film shit. MLP happened. The constant general brought trolls, people who hated MLP and people who generally didn't give a flying fuck about anything but MLP. After the mods enforced the 1 MLP thread rule, people started to attack other shows to see if they could get them force into a general. After MLP was made every new to semi-popular cartoon has had people trying to make 24/7 generals or self-sustaining sub-board threads so that they could be part of a new fandom or get porn/fanart of their waifus.

I genuinely believe /co/ needs to be split into /ca/ for cartoons and /co/ for comics. The sheer number of fucking casuals we get on there is appalling; we need an IP-based entry quiz to gage people's level of comic knowledge so that we can choose who to allow in or not.
I really just go on /co/ for storytimes, it makes no sense to be so stringent and merging comics and cartoons (which are as far apart as chalk and cheese) into a single board. MCU and specifically the Avengers which caused the seep of social justice bullshit into comics. Cartoons like AT and the various shows that spun out of the people who worked on it allowed social justice bullshit to flourish as well. Tumblr came to /co/ to talk about their favorite 2010s cartoons, Marvel movies and webcomics and stuck around. Comic fans are too beta to do anything but even if they weren't it wouldn't matter because the janitors and/or mods of the board also tend to hold Tumblr sensibilities.
