The hobby boards are still pretty garbage too though, but it's your middle ground.

I think their shortcomings are mostly the fault of inconsistent moderation, they could be better. On the other hand though I'm not so sure the non-hobby boards could ever really get much better because they will always want more serious discussion and debate.
