banned for posting pizza on ck.jpg
117 KB, 817x481
Lately I've noticed that the mods or janitors(when they actually do thier job) are only giving out 3 day bans across all boards.

Also porn is being posted everywhere and nothing is being done to stop it

Threads that are obviously ban worthy stay up while post that hardly warrant bans get deleted and 3 day bans

So how is the moderation on your board?
Are you having the same problems?

What did he mean by this?
>>
every single board is just garbage now
its not meant for discussing anything
its for circle jerking & anime spamming
and if you say anything, you'll get reported by 9000 people because you hurt someones feelings
and the dumb fucking cuck mods will warn you or ban you because they just look at the amount of reports & decide its justified
this site gets worse by the DAY
>>
Low standards invite low people who invite lower standards.
>>
/a/ still self-moderates somewhat reliably, though not as well as it used to. It's getting a little too big/fast now though, and I know the idea has been thrown around before and always set aside, but it's really time to consider a split. I'd recommend one for current and one for all other series. It would help deal with the problem of general threads clogging the board since almost all of these are going to be in the old board. Then the threads that sporadically pop up trying to discuss older series won't get kicked off the board by them; they'll share a board with them that isn't also clogged with 15 different series' threads each day.

I think the topic of moderation is almost moot when literally every 8 year old has watched a youtube video that explaoins how ot unplug the router from the wall. More important to consider is the envirionment itself that you're tasking these people with cleaning. Some of the boards are just way too fast and way too full of dedicated shitposters for any sort of high expectations to be met by your volunteer staff.
>>
Reports are sent from users to janitors, who are board specific. Then janitor reports are sent to mods, who are global. The user has the most power here.
>>
>>546206
I think you're quite out of touch. You also skew to the extremes too much.
>a little too big/fast now
We have in fact sunk slightly in activity the latest year and a half.
When it comes to separating the board on anachronistically based terms, I think it would be terrible for the board. /a/ has thrived on discussion around airing shows, as well as older acclaimed ones. /a/ wouldn't be /a/ without that. Most old shows have been discussed to death, so is it not a good thing that people can decide themselves what they want to post about? 4chan is ephemerel in nature, why should we try to keep threads alive longer than they deserve to?
A board only for old shows is a board of stagnation.

As for ban evasion, I think you're underestimating a lot of people's ignorance a bit. Not everyone feels inclined to or bother doing it either. Most people will rethink their actions when they get banned, either in a positive or negative way. Dedicated shitposters are few in numbers.

Same for /pol/tards on /tv/

/co/ mods put a gotham livewatch thread on autosage :C
>>
>>546490
Autosage is a "we want to delete it but don't want to rile up people more" compromise.

I think they do it because there is a legitimate question of how much live action should a comics and cartoons board really hold. If it becomes majority live-action discussion at some point then the board is basically a farce in name.

Problem is it is understandable /co/ would not want to talk about this on /tv/ where they would mostly be looking to meme on it has hard as they can while /co/ wants to actually talk about it. They're kind of in a pickle really because there is just so much live action capeshit these days it's fucking astounding. I don't know how greater society hasn't gotten fucking sick of it yet. I know I have.
>>
>>545920

It's super nice when the mods and janitors actually do their jobs. I don't mind harsh/strict moderation, but It'd be nice if they were consistent.
>>
>/vp/

Cancer of the highest order, unfortunately, mods and janitors seem to be unaware of what's shitposting and what isn't.

Hell, we even have our own Barneyfag in the form of the Tailsposter.
>>
>>545920
This is actually why I stopped posting on /ck/. The most innocuous threads seem to get a ban across all boards. Whoever the mod for that board is needs to be fucking fired. And this isn't new, it's been like that since 2013 on /ck/ and I'm on a router so I can't change my IP, which means that by trying to discuss food on 4chan, I run the risk of being blocked from posting for up to a week on all boards simply because I said I didn't like mint chocolate.
>>
>>546529
I think overall moderation is too lax. What needs to happen is a period of draconian moderation. Hire a boatload of janitors, crack down on every single site rule for a period. Really hammer into people the rules and at least bring more awareness. Then once the worst of the trolls, shitposters and falseflaggers have left, resume back to lower levels.
4chans population is too large these days to have the same hands-off moderation that used to work, users need reminding of the rules and the worst posters need to be culled off in order to regenerate the community after.
>>
/co/s is great if you like being banned for evading a ban with none prior on your record
>>
>/co/

shitty bait threads will stay there for hours, reaching bump limit and image limit even after reporting it
>>
>>545920
/ck/ is getting shitposted to death and the mods only help at the minimum possible level.
/v/, /tv/, and /pol/ are pure damn shitposts, the coward mods have abandoned them.
/tg/ has ok moderation since little shitposting occurs on it.

>>546609
Fucking this. Too bad that jap owner won't want to reduce the site's population due to a reduction in ad money and the mods/jannies are too lazy to do their goddamned jobs.
>>
>>546440
Just because the mods are terrible doesn't mean that there are no mods doing their job once in a while at all, anon.
>>
>/mu/
I get the feeling the number of people who report threads is in single digits, and moderation responds accordingly.
People seem to believe posting MODS actually does something.

Although, mods did a pretty shitty job allowing various shitposting circlejerks to establish themselves.

/tv/ is a meme board now, if I were you I'd stop taking it so seriously and go along with the ride see how it develops

My only real complain is that there are periods of time where porn threads flood the board and get an insane amount of answers but take like an hour to be deleted
>>
>>545920
As much as people like to shit on them, /v/ mods aren't that bad.

They usually end up deleting stuff that should be deleted, even if it takes them a while.

The only problem is that they sometimes delete entire threads because one guy tries to derail them.
>>
>>546698
Anyone who tries to moderate a board as fast as /v/ is a saint in my book.

>/a/ still self-moderates somewhat reliably
No it fucking doesn't.
/a/ is a nothing but a series of autistic hiveminds and mods have allowed them to turn the board into a chat lobby for both marked and unmarked general threads.

Anyone who says that self moderation works in any respect and cites /a/ has no fucking idea what they are on about. Self moderation never worked on /a/ or any other board and never will because it isn't actually moderation, it's mob rule and the mod is only as intelligent as the least intelligent autistic spastic in the group.
>>
>>546944
What the fuck even is self-moderation besides spamming a thread with shit so it hits the bump limit quicker?
>>
>>546495
>because there is a legitimate question of how much live action should a comics and cartoons board really hold.
Exactly zero is the only answer. /tv/ exists for a reason.
>>
>>546945
>What the fuck even is self-moderation
It is supposed to
1. reporting and ignoring
2. as an extension of 1, not engaging in posts which ought be reported and ignored.
This doesn't work because that isn't how people work and least of all how narcissistic American teenagers work.

Self moderation is an oxymoron at best.
>>
>>546947
So, just not shitposting and being intelligent enough to recognize bait? That's not really self-moderation, that's just being a fucking normal person, no?
>>
>>546944
>>546947
You sound stupid.
>>546948
The latter part yes. In case you didn't get the memo, a lot of people who browse here aren't normal and a lot of people are teenagers, or act like ones, so openly advocating that kind of self-restraint is the only viable option to encourage better behaviour.
>>
>>545920
Thats funny, I was also banned a few years ago for saying I like Papa Murphy's pizza.

I guess the same guy is still around.
>>
>>546629
Yep, mods use the ban evasion template to give people that really rustle their jimmies 30-days instead of 1-3 days. Happened to me too before.
>>
>>546964
Even as a teen I felt no need to shit things up, is this not normal?
>>
>>545920
They give out 3 day bans specifically to prevent appeals. Some boards like /co/ in particular have rogue mods who don't want other mods or the admin to find out that they just delete *whatever* they don't like, ontopic and rule abiding or not.
>>
>>546985
No, it that regard you would be quite normal.
>>

Post a picture of tits, it's gone in seconds.
But avalanches of any other type of shit, you never, ever action it. Fuck you.
>>
>>546991
Everything they do is logged, no one above them gives a fuck enough to fact check their bullshit though.
>>
>>547016
Exactly, no one checks their logs unless attention is specifically called to it. Preventing appeals prevents all recourse and makes sure it draws no attention from others.
>>
>>546629

I received a 30-day ban on /pol/ in late 2015 for "ban evading", which I never did.

I don't see how the mods can fuck up that badly. How do you ban someone for something such as that without being absolutely certain?
