Does anyone know any good traditional forums that are somewhat active? I love anonymous imageboards but sometimes i enjoy the universal tripfag experience.
All the half decent forums i used to visit got merged into an inactive piece of shit. The users seem high quality at least.

depends, the "good" ones are usually niche focused, like around a video game or something
forums that are just general topic usually aren't that great. At the very least it's hard to get to know others which is half the point of a forum like that.

I enjoy anime, but finding an anime community other than MAL has been hard for me.
I do enjoy general topic forums. Getting to know each other has been easy for me on those kinds of forums, i don't know why.

sometimes they can be extremely insular though. This is made worse if the webmaster doesn't keep his mods in line to keep them from powertripping. At least on 4chan they can't publicly identify themselves which helps a lot. And if you make some mistake in regards to the "culture" you don't gain some reputation as a newb or idiot as you're anonymous.
