I have no idea how /g/ turned into such a shithole, it's one of those boards I always expected to have some kind of decency.

said /v/, /b/, techsupport, ect have basically taken over the board. Its a real shame because it was a slow board that had some level of quality a few years ago.

I know it may not have been the best board but its a shame to see it become pretty much just /v/ tier posts now.

I dont actually think any janitors or mods exist on /g/, considering how long threads like what i posted in the op stay active
>>
Update!

shit like this

>>>/g/54551606

goes against two rules

1) it belongs on /v/
2) its a blatent request thread

these sort of threads used to be deleted pretty quick, and at least would have only had shit posts in them

It's a board full of normalfags. The fuck do you expect?

Depends on what you mean by "non stop." When I hear non-stop, I think very high quantity at a high rate (lots of posts very often). Posts like that don't show up during the day (around 1100-1700 4chan time) but one or two might pop up very late at night and remain on the board for 30 minutes to an hour because, I assume, most of the people with the power to delete the thread aren't at their computer. However, I will grant that they have been a constant thing in the past few months, but again, only one or two per day, and very late at night.

Debatable. It's at best tangentially related to video games. I agree that it's not perfectly suited for a technology-focused board, but it's on-topic enough to warrant being on /g/.
>2) its a blatent request thread
Again, up for interpretation. It could spur good discussion on how modding a PSP works, or show people how to mod a PSP. Also notice that there are other threads on /g/ that could be considered requests ( >>>/g/54577948 ) but in general these threads remain because both the board and the mods/janitors find them within the limits of "technology" discussion. What I think is unacceptable is threads that say "[thing] is technology," where thing can be something like "bongs."

I just took a look through the catalog. There were definitely some troll-y/really shitty OP's, but everything was vaguely centered around technology, at least how the board agrees on it. The only thread I could find that possibly warranted deletion was this one.
>>>/g/54579125
"haha tim cook is tall" is just plain retarded. It's focused on a physical attribute, instead of talking about how it relates to technology. For example, if it were criticizing his decisions as CEO, that could produce meaningful discussion about, perhaps, digital privacy. But it's just a shitpost, using a tired meme.

>>532539
That's weird. On /tv/ they literally dish out five day bans for Baneposting. Why is that one allowed?
>>
>>532540
I think it has to do with board attitudes towards those kinds of posts. Baneposting is so played out on /tv/ that there's a strong backlash against it when it shows up nowadays. I imagine there are more reports for a really bad Banepost-type OP/reply on /tv/ than there are for a thread of a similar caliber on most other boards.
>>
>>532543
That's a big problem.
