Why was Ron Paul so popular on 4chan in the past (around 2008 or so)? He was almost as popular as Trump is now.

Back then /pol/ was full of libertarians who seeked the truth and saw through the media's lies. Now it's mostly stormfags who think the guy who talks the most shit and buys the most people will somehow "save the white race" or something to that effect.
