Let's settle this once and for all.
/a/ and /pol/ - friends or foes?
My guess is that a majority of both /a/ and /pol/ will answer "foes". A crossboarding minority will say that the boards are friends.
>>526577
>crossboarding minority
pretty much completely separate audiences, "friend" or "foe" would imply more than is actually there
Neutral.
>>526577
Lovers of course.
Indifferent
>>526578
Why was that sign even allowed there? No mention of Trump or America.
>asking this on /qa/, home of the falseflagging redditor shills
How about no.
>>526614
Asking this on /a/ would probably lead to a ban.
>>526611
"Make ____ Great Again" is a Trumpism at this point, the phrase is associated with his campaign
>>526625
/a/ is probably indifferent. /pol/ rarely ever derails anything over political shit there.
>>526614
Reminder that Reddit is a bogeyman but /pol/ isn't.
>>526582
So /a/ doesn't really care about politics?
>>527436
pretty much, unless it affects them getting their animes
>>527436
They enjoy shows about dictators with superpowers, but are very split on whether political intrigue makes a show better or worse. Some like to turn their brain off because anime is a low form of entertainment and they can watch GOT for politics. Others got into anime when it was marketed as having more adult themes and want some sophistication in their cartoons.
As far as the ideaological divide, it depends if they remember watching censored 4kids stuff and blame conservatives, or if they see SJWs behind everything, being mad about everything and blame liberals for it.
>>526577
Friends. /a/ made ebola-chan.
>>526577
The majority of both are tsun for each other but there are elements of /pol/ that completely hates /a/ beyond reason. It's usually elements of /pol/ who have unchecked aggression.
/a/ isn't as much of a singular hivemind as /pol/ so if you ask them about it you'll get widely varying opinions. I'd say the board trends closer to neutral / leaning towards dislike regarding /pol/ but mostly is apathetic to them like it is most boards. /a/ is much more concerned with itself in trying to fix problems and restore/maintain its user standards than it is other boards. If other boards bring in a lot of outsiders who don't match /a/'s standards then suddenly that board is an enemy. /pol/ doesn't seem to leak into /a/ a huge amount though, or rather it's just occasional and mostly because /pol/ is leaking everywhere to begin with.
At the very least /pol/ users are proud to reject usual normalfag PC/SJW leanings and /a/ shares that sentiment.

No it didn't. It was a jap over at pixiv. http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=45126746
From /a/ here,
I don't care for the most part as long as they keep their stupid shit in /pol/
>hurr inferior races blah blah
>trump is best and will save anime just like klk
I see that shit come into /a/ way too often and those fags need to piss the fuck off.
I don't understand why they would be foes.
/pol/ is:
>pro-nationalism
They want nations to preserve their values, independence and cultural identity.
>anti-globalism/globalization,
By that same token they realize that the idea of globalism and turning every nation into the same grey blob by globalizing their values, or making products for the entire world instead of your own country homogenizes everything into a sea of mediocrity for the LCD, and erodes a nation's values just to enrich corporate puppets. They also oppose deals like the TPP for this reason.
>against political correctness
They want to be able to say whatever they want, put whatever they want in media, reach whatever truth regardless of what the PC Police says about it.
/a/ is:
>pro-nationalism
They want Japan to preserve its values, independence and cultural identity. Otherwise they would be watching Western cartoons instead. Incidentally Japan is a very nationalistic country. This pro-nationalism mentality also extends to /a/ and the hobby, they don't want outsiders to invade them and ruin them
>anti-globalism/globalization
They realize that the West trying to force its values on Japan, or Japan having to make products for every country would dilute what they like about anime and Japanese media
>against political correctness
They want all the weird shit and things that would be considered too offensive or incompatible with Western values in manga and anime. PC shitters have already taken over Hollywood and a lot of institutions in the West, it's only a matter of time before they spread to most countriest, or they go after foreign media
A lot of /pol/ values (isolationism, anti-PC, some things were better in the past, etc.) are things that have been common everywhere here forever
The only reason people seem to hate them is because of "racism" (there's always been some of that) or Trump memeing (who cares?). They're actually trying to tackle the issues head-on.

Holy damn how could I have never picked that up
>>529157
dang . . .
They don't interact so neutral would be my answer.
>>526614
>touhou
>/a/
This demonstrates my point. You don't even know her name I bet.
>>529436
You don't have to be mad that your board has some crossover with /pol/, almost every board does to some extent.
>>529137
What about /a/ and its obsession with traps and other gay stuff? That's totally aginst /pol/- values.
>>529643
that's just /b/ leaking
>>529643
The reasonable view on that side of the aisle is generally that you can do whatever you want in the privacy of your own home, just don't push it everywhere in the open and force everyone to accept it. So they'd be fine with someone fapping to traps or anything else as long as it's not constantly promoted, it stays in their niche and it's not forced for the sake of a quota. Meanwhile in the West traps would be considered "fetishization and objectification of transgenders" or whatever.
/a/nons and /pol/acks aren't singular hiveminds though. Lots of /a/nons aren't obsessed with gay shit, and lots of /pol/acks probably also have fucked up fetishes.
