It's not even hard to sift through the shit anymore. I used to make a big deal out of it. The catalog certainly helps.

It's pretty clear that /b/ stopped being /b/ by some point in 2008-2010. 2004-2006 Goldren age is definitely oldfag, 2003 is eldritch abomination elder god tier. My personal cutoff point for newfags is around when newfag was coined and was frequently used instead of lurk more, which I believe is somewhere in 2007. So 2008 and beyond, newfags. The lot of them.
I also blame the word newfag for the degeneration of /b/ because newfags stopped lurking before posting, and used it as a catch-all argument when their newness was showing. Telling an old-fag to lurk moar doesn't mean anything because the oldfag already knows the meme. Welling an oldfag he is a newfag results in a shitfest and the newfag not lurking, but instead posting and just accusing everyone else of being a newfag when he doesn't get something.
