Mods, instead of banning threads, why don't you have a default hide list?
Dickhead posts his 100000th shitty thread, instead of just making him ban evade, just put the thread on the list of "shitty threads" that are hidden by default.
That way the shitposter is not immediately kicked out of his thread and forced to post another.
Most hardcore shitposters are professionals, they'd figure out it pretty soon. And there's nothing stopping them from opening their threads in a private window to see if it's hidden or not.

But I don't see much advantage to OP's approach over simply moving the thread to /trash/.
