/a/ is excellent when they have good threads, i don't like the sad panda, umaru, and /c/ + /e/ spam though, but it's alright
/g/ is pretty good, the /pol/ faggots are annoying but it's a good board, i don't mind the generals, and i LOVE /ptg/, great comfy general
/v/ is usually shit, same threads every fucking day (pass the controller bro, etc.) though /v/ is alright when people actually talk about games, board culture is nice too
/co/ is shit, most of the threads are just comic imagedumps, a lot of waifu faggotry, strangely enough there are a lot of /pol/faggots on this board, people get mad way too easily
it's boring, there are usually 5 interesting threads a day
/mu/ is amazing, you have the generals to actually talk about music and the board for talking about music in general, memes, etc.
love this board this is my top board
/tv/ is decent, love the meme threads and when people actually discuss kino it's good, political threads are usually shit, but this is overall a good board
/qa/ is slow but good
/wsr/ is great
/r9k/ used to be my top but i hardly check now, it's a weird combination of /b/, /lgbt/, /soc/ and /pol/
i miss the casual atmosphere it used to have, constant racebait and threads about sex get 100 replies in a few minutes while actual original threads are left to rot. robot is useless, nuke this board

4chan might be one of the worst places to talk about sex on the entire internet outside of porn website comments.
This is the main reason why porn isn't allowed on blue boards.
The reason /a/, /mu/, /v/ and /tv/ manage to stay good is because they have a constant stream of new media to discuss. There's always new anime, new music, new vidya, new television to talk about, which is the livelihood of the boards.
Some other boards focus almost exclusively on old content and give little or no attention to new material. /co/ and /lit/ are guilty of this. And this is harmful to the health of the boards because you can only talk about Gravity's Rainbow so many times before it starts to feel tired and dull. Imagine what /a/ would be like if 90% of the board thought that most new anime was shit and only wanted to talk about Cowboy Bebop and Ghibli movies, and that's roughly what /lit/ is like.
Boards that don't have the benefit of an active industry or medium will run low on discussion topics and will devolve into the shit that you get on /lgbt/ and /r9k/ for instance.

4chan sucks because it grew way beyond what made it good in the first place, it happened years ago and has never been the same since.
4chan is no longer the cultural hub of the internet - It's become a caricature of itself and only attracts a certain type of person, and that person isn't the same type of person who made the site worth visiting a decade ago.
tumblr is better than 4chan, tumblr is having its '4chan circa 2006' golden era right now. You can hate it in a vague attempt to uphold your allegiance to a community even the creator has left in the dust or you can embrace a new chapter of internet culture while it happens - if you value your time online you'll know which choice is the most rewarding.

I like /daily/, sharethreads, /bleep/, /metal/ but the rest of the board is /v/ tier when it comes to misc threads and the memes are usually just insecure insults for validation (poseurcore, theory fagging, spork posting), there's also way too much waifu fagging, maybe /WPOP/ might be a good idea, and p4k readers who spam kancer west. It's an good board but it's very flawed.

And also, the fact that /lit/ doesn't have a constant stream of new media isn't /lit/s fault, it's the industries fault because there are more bad books than good released within a year, and the fact that /lit/ talks about old books is probably a good thing.
Just because /tv/ and /mu/ have constant stream of media doesn't mean it's good media. Most new music is bad and most new telivision and films are bad, albeit there are a significant number of decent films anually.

4chan's problem is that it ISN'T those sort of people any more. As its users have gotten older and the site's popularity attracted more people, its userbase has gone from stupid outcast teenagers amusing themselves to a lot more guys in their early and mid-20s, and some even older, who as well as amusement use the site to escape the real world/vent their frustrations with their lives.
To ever make 4chan better you'd have to go Logan's Run/Children of the Corn and institute a maximum age for site users, like say 23.
