Is there any way to save /v/?

Make it it's own chan, or split if like two three times if you want any semblance of quality discussion again

>Gaming will be overrun by people who don't even play videogames.
>Sooner or later the feminists will invade gaming [...] but it won't work

If only he knew how bad it was going to really be.
/v/ is dead and will not rise.
>>
Literally delete it and its containment boards /vr/ and /vg/ and range/hardware ban its entire userbase from the site entirely

Instant, massive improvement in post quality across all of 4chan overnight.

This. Then wait about 6 months to a year or so before bringing it back.
>>
>use a high traffic
>get pissed when a bunch of kids shit it up

Just grow up and move to a new board, man.

Video games are fun, but there's plenty of more rewarding, less time wasting mediums out there. There's plenty of great boards on 4chan too. There's also /tv/ and /mu/ that are slightly better than /v/.

/b/, /v/ and /pol/ are containment boards for the rest of 4chan. Just accept it and move on. The higher traffic a board gets, the worst it's going to be. If you can't appreciate the shitposting, don't use it.

This.

Popular subject = high traffic = shit board. We already tried fixing /v/ and the result was /vr/, /vp/, and /vg/. Guess what people crossboard, so /v/ remains basically unaffected.

The lost art...

Might as well just suggest what I suggested in the other thread.

More rangebans. Just... rangeban everyone who makes repeat threads. It's pretty fucking easy to tell when someone is making repeat threads anyway. And of course disable mobile IPs. No idea how you'd go about doing that, but it's what needs to happen because right now it is the one thing that can bypass a rangeban.

/vg/ has made /v/ irrelevant. The only time I would ever go to /v/ was to look for threads about a game I was playing to see if I could find anything useful. Now I can just go to /vg/ and find a pastebin full of useful links and information.

The only people who post on /v/ now are career shitposters.
>>
>>478264
Is this supposed to be prophetic? Because I'm looking at the front page of /v/ right now, and I see nothing but video game threads.

/v/'s problem is not offtopic shit. It's that people just like being dicks, so they'll go into a thread about a game they don't like and shitpost it.

On the other extreme you have /vg/, which is such an unfathomable hugbox that they don't even bother to talk about the games, instead devolving into lame memes, porn, and tripfag drama.

I don't really know if there's a solution.
>>
I think at least half of the people who play video games aren't very interested in the games on their own. They're a casual pastime that is mostly uninteresting to them outside of the socializing aspect. Think about how popular Let's Plays are. Think about how few people actually have a decent computer to play games on. Think about how few people actually complete the main story of most of the games they own.

This isn't to say /v/ hates video games, it's just that a lot of the people there don't really care about video games either way. It's socializing about things hardly even related to video games that they want. The solution? What should and should not be allowed on /v/ should become a little more strict. Especially remove lol, filename, twitter, Eceleb, porn, and even draw threads. /v/ needs to be boring to the people who aren't very interested in video games themselves.

>It's that people just like being dicks, so they'll go into a thread about a game they don't like and shitpost it.

This is the biggest problem with 4chan in general honestly. Not enough reasonable debate or discussion, too many angry edgelords who just want too shout each other down.

You fucking moron.
IP addresses from android devices at the like are exactly the fucking same as any landline in respect to dynamic IP reallocation. Regardless of how many times you change your IP on a mobile, you are not going to be given an IP address away from the region it is refreshing from, unless you are physically moving to a different region which is closer to another exchange.

Try it out yourself. You can reset your IP on your phone or whatever mobile broadband device and check the IP geolocation feedback each time. It is going to be coming from the same region each and every time.

You people are fucking morons.

>disable mobile IP's

Although mobile carriers have many allotted blocks of IP's, they aren’t different from landlines IP's and I doubt the carriers will send Hiro a list of every mobile IP in their network.

>b..but websites know when I'm browsing on my mobile

Which is true if you go to 4chan on your phone's internet browser but using an app like Clover will circumvent the detection
>>
>>479142

>Not enough reasonable debate or discussion

Not that I'm advocating shitposting, but you have to have a major mental defect to think "hey, I want to have a serious, on-topic, logical discussion - which website should I go to? Oh, 4chan of course!"
>>
>>479153
I know some sites can detect the client OS and other shit, so block anyone it detects using android/iOS from posting.

Read only mobile browsing needs to happen no matter how difficult or unpopular it is, it is simply too abusable and is killing boards.
>>
>>479159

Do you really think Hiro, who went into debt to buy 4chan, is really going to do anything that will reduce unique IP's visiting the site?
>>
>>479160
Good point. I'm pretty sure he can recoup it by selling ad space, 'ad space' (read: mod-free shilling time, which would explain some fishy threads I've been seeing since the buyout), and just selling our info to third parties like he did before. That makes some pretty big bucks depending on who buys your data.

Guess faggots like Ruggarell are going to stay moderation immune forever.
