What went wrong?

People somehow convinced themselves that a board becoming more like tumblr is a bad thing.

>>476424
It's not a good thing that's for sure.

It IS a good thing, that's for sure.

Nazi mods, tumblrinas, retards trying to force memes that not even /tv/ would touch.

And western cartoons are terrible.

Nothing. It's still one of the better boards on the website.

Weebs hate it because it's one of the few boards they can't really shitpost on, except for the Toonami thread.
>>
>>477396
>implying weebs are the shitposters
>>
>>476903
That, maybe. There's a bunch of other off-topic crap as well.

Nah, man. Just nah.

>Weebs hate it because it's one of the few boards they can't really shitpost on, except for the Toonami thread.
They do almost all the time, although most of them probably don't even touch /a/.
>>
>>476421
>what went wrong

Mods and janitors who have no accountability, they make their own rules and enforce only the ones that are convenient to them
>>
>>476421
It became the biggest comics forum on the Internet, ironically, compared to all the other communities, it was free of drama and shit.

So people from all places began to flock in and the board became distinct from 4chan.
>>
It's a board where the normality of courteousness bred a kind of subculture where nothing you'd think to be real or true about anonymous punch-ups or even banter is allowed. Because nobody is ever allowed to be negative, this has brought about a reality where the board for COMIC BOOKS and CARTOONS allows, fully and completely, threads from every other board to be posted there.

You want to go to /ic/ or /i/ but don't know the people there? Make your thread on /co/.
Want to masturbate to girls dressed as comic book characters? While, you might think /cgl/ is the place for you, the people there are unfamiliar to you, so you'd better post it on /co/.
What if, say, you wanted to talk about an anime? You know, we have a board for anime. But, that's the problem, you know it as a foreign and strange place where people might not like your topic about Digimon. /co/ has got you covered.
Do you want to talk about food or drinks? Really, you want to talk about food, or liquids you imbibe? Okay, here's the deal, you'll want to put that topic on /ck/, but the people there might say you're bad at eating, somehow. So you'll post on /co/, which is fine. Nobody on /co/ will ever call you on your hugbox mentality. It's fine. Keep doing it. It is fine.
>>
>>477417
Except they are.

Weebs are the second biggest shitposters on pretty much every board, after /pol/lacks.
>>
>>477396
>Weebs hate it because it's one of the few boards they can't really shitpost on, except for the Toonami thread.
Why would an external group of people need to shitpost on /co/? /co/ is terrible by itself.
>>
>>477396
Except /co/ is full of weebs.
>>
Live action bringing in /tv/ and janitors not cracking down on shitty faggots in generals.
>>
>>477523
>Why would an external group of people need to shitpost on /co/? /co/ is terrible by itself.
To keep it that way. It take effort to maintain the level of shittyness on /co/ or any board that isn't fast.
>>
western comic enthusiasts are just culturally a lesser race

all the worst fandoms are western fandoms
>>
Lack of content.

Pony trauma.

Huge disconnect between capefags and everyone else on the board.
>>
mods are biased and stupid and probably gay

Fucking Hiro, do your goddamn job
>>

Everything you stated also applies to /a/. They have generals for toys and figs, for drawfags, for language learning, for scanlation, for porn, for company earnings, and for voice actors. Then there are the other dozen variations of /c/ute imagedumping, ERPing, lewd but not outright pornographic image dumps, etc.
/a/ is currently more of a bastard board than /co/.

We're currently in a golden age of non-Big 2 comics but I have to go to fucking 420chan to get a good discussion going.
It used to be great but then Megaupload got van'd and someone reported the radipshit that had literally every pre-1990 underground comic.

Capefags acting like they're on an all-american board.

/tv/ raids.

/co/ is full of shit, it's definitely in the bottom list of decent boards.

lmao

This. I made a thread there genuinely asking if Godzilla could beat the Hulk and it got deleted. The mods on there are fucked.

What's going on in that picture? And why do people draw such sexy art of children's cartoons?
>>
>>476421
It needs more anime
>>
>>478265
It feels like the moderation on 4chan as a whole is becoming more and more hostile towards anything that's even remotely immodest.

Which sucks, because I used to come to 4chan to post things that were exactly that.
>>
>>477752
>I have to go to fucking 420chan to get a good discussion going.
/616/ is very different from /co/
- The board is for comics only. No cartoons, live-action movies, video games, anime, any other non-comic thing
- No stupid divide between manga and comics like on 4chan. They understand that they are all comics.
- 420chan is not as popular as 4chan which might be the real reason why it has good discussions. You don't have a mob of people trying to make every board "/b/ + subject"
>>
too much comics not enough cartoons

/co/'s janitors are probably the worst on the entire sight. It's obvious they have a MASSIVE bias towards capeshit. They will let capeshit threads cover the board but if they see two threads for any other topic they'll delete one and heavily prune the remaining one of anything even slightly off color.

/co/'s Jannies need to be fired.
>>
>>481372
It's actually the opposite. Janis and mods respond to whatever gets reported the most else they don't do shit.

>>
>>477738
He's right, though. I doubt on /a/ you could even get away with a thread about western animation/comics, but the reverse happens on /co/ all the time. Some of those threads get deleted right away, but others are ignored entirely. And that's just regarding comics and animated media. People go to /co/ to discuss all kinds of things that are thought to be disliked by the boards they should be on, regardless of how /co/-related it is (if it has a comic/animated adaption, most of the time for most subjects it's ignored entirely). A good amount of the time the residential mods/janitors don't even give a shit about such obvious off-topic threads, either. I'd find it hard for /a/ to be worse in off-topic material than /co/.
