Because nobody is ever allowed to be negative, this has brought about a reality where the board for COMIC BOOKS and CARTOONS allows, fully and completely, threads from every other board to be posted there.
You want to go to /ic/ or /i/ but don't know the people there? Make your thread on /co/.
Want to masturbate to girls dressed as comic book characters? While, you might think /cgl/ is the place for you, the people there are unfamiliar to you, so you'd better post it on /co/.
What if, say, you wanted to talk about an anime? You know, we have a board for anime. But, that's the problem, you know it as a foreign and strange place where people might not like your topic about Digimon. /co/ has got you covered.
Do you want to talk about food or drinks? Really, you want to talk about food, or liquids you imbibe? Okay, here's the deal, you'll want to put that topic on /ck/, but the people there might say you're bad at eating, somehow. So you'll post on /co/, which is fine. /616/ is very different from /co/
- The board is for comics only. No cartoons, live-action movies, video games, anime, any other non-comic thing
- No stupid divide between manga and comics like on 4chan. They understand that they are all comics.
- 420chan is not as popular as 4chan which might be the real reason why it has good discussions. You don't have a mob of people trying to make every board "/b/ + subject"

He's right, though. I doubt on /a/ you could even get away with a thread about western animation/comics, but the reverse happens on /co/ all the time. Some of those threads get deleted right away, but others are ignored entirely. And that's just regarding comics and animated media. People go to /co/ to discuss all kinds of things that are thought to be disliked by the boards they should be on, regardless of how /co/-related it is (if it has a comic/animated adaption, most of the time for most subjects it's ignored entirely). A good amount of the time the residential mods/janitors don't even give a shit about such obvious off-topic threads, either. I'd find it hard for /a/ to be worse in off-topic material than /co/.
