When I was a kid, me and my friend used to have arguments over whos toy was better. This would sometimes go on and on, eventually evolving to a shouting match and occasionally physical altercations, until parents intervened.
This is /v/ in a nutshell except there is no physicality involved and no parents to put people in time out, so it's just one eternal shouting match about who has the better toy involving thousands of people.

The difference is that /a/'s vitriol is largely segregated on certain shows, and is pretty much nonexistent for a good chunk of shows and topics.
The only place on 4chan which has the same vitriol as /v/, without being hate based on IRL bullshit, is /g/.
/a/ is like the happy retard who stares outside the window and barely tries to hide the hand in his pants. /v/ is the angry retard who realizes he is different but interprets that as a sign of distinction and superiority, and therefore flaunts it.
