I'd say it would have to be /a/'s MadThad. He was a notirous waifufag (Kotonoha was his waifu) and pedophile. Not "lolicon", actual paedophile since was attracted to real children.
Needless to say that /a/ wasn't very fond of him. He had his amusing moments but nobody liked how he kept bringing "3DPD" children into loli threads and he constantly mentioned that he watched child porn on facebook. The dude was arrested for leaving a pendrive of CP at his local library and got off with a slap on a wrist due to it being his first offence.
So what happens next? He gets out and brags on twitter that the feds "didn't get his other harddrives" and of course they raid his place and find MORE CP and the guy gets locked up.

"Taiga" was a very frequent tripfag back in 2007-2010. Took the name from the main girl from Toradora and was the embodiment of everything wrong with tripfags. Unwarranted sense of self-importance and had a "my opinions are fact" attitude.
This would later tie in with the next infamous /a/ tripfag, "Lanced Jack". He frequently avatarfagged Konata and would just shitpost and bait constantly. Jack and Taiga became such a problem that just about everyone on /a/ was emailing moot to ban the two, and what did our glorious leader do? Changed EVERYONES names on /a/ to be either "Taiga" or "Lanced Jack". Massive shitstorm, pretty funny looking back on it. I vaguely remember that Lanced Jack emailed moot to pathetically unban him and moot just posted the email on /a/ for everyone to laugh at. Taiga got bored and left if I recall.
/a/ would continue to have shitty tripfags (Uidrew, Komeiji, YotsubaC for example but there's two more people who actually mattered in the grand scale of things.
First of all, Accel spammer. Utilizing a dumping program his friend developed, this autistic user would spam threads to death with countless images of Accelerator from the To Aru series. If he didn't like a thread, he would spam it; simple as that. He had some supporters in the beginning as they viewed the threads he spammed to be "cancer" and ridding the board of things they didn't like. But it became obvious that there were very little threads that he actually liked since 90% of threads on /a/ would end up being spammed. Naturally people called him autistic, which often prompted him to stick on a trip and try to defend that he wasn't. He had a bit of a complex about it and it was hilarious to see him get so defensive about it. Eventually he got killed when his friend working on the spam program got bored and turned it over to the mods and stopped updating it.

The last big infamous /a/ personality I can think of wasn't actually a user, but a moderator of 4chan.
A rouge mod who claimed the moniker "M.D Geist" created a sticky and played music from the anime OVA he was named after in it. It was harmless, however he soon went on a huge vendetta against "moeshit" and started banning K-On threads on sight and pretty much manufactured a civil war between users who enjoyed such content and those who didn't. He avatarfagged, posted with aname (not a moderator capcode) and pretty much caused a huge shitstorm on /a/ for a week or so. Everyone agrees he went too far once he started banning K-On threads in /c/ though.
Eventually be got barred from being allowed to moderate /a/.

He used to post on /sp/ and always seemed like a nice enough guy, joining in with conversations about university lifestyle and being a student and stuff. However, he's so autistic he was basically confined to his room, surrounded by hundreds of piss bottles, and he would constantly talk about how much he loved some Polish girl he vaguely knew. He is apparently so creepy in real life that he actually got expelled from his university eventually for making all the girls really uncomfortable.
He always posted anonymously, but I think he has a blog called "Poleaboo" or something, which is where he got his name. He never made bad posts on /sp/, but after a while the moderators would just delete all his posts and discussion of his life (since it's >not sports), and there's a chance he might actually be in prison now for excessive creepiness and degeneracy.

By using Risk threads as a means of recruitment, it eventually spread into /b/, /tg/ and beyond. While it was pubically a risk skype chat, it was nothing but anime, shitposting, and an echo chamber for her political beliefs and her willingness to get members to do stuff to themselves for her like cutting their hair and shit.
Thankfully, that all died once risk people from /mlp/ and /pol/ told her to fuck off and put aside their obvious differences to make a group called The Circle. Only downside is that they have been less active in risk threads as of late, but had they not come around, RC probably would've gotten far worse and attracted more unlucky souls.
