It's obvious to me /trash/ serves no purpose other than acting as a backyard [s4s] or unfiltered porn board; threads moved there either will not likely have a continued discussion or were better off having been deleted. The board's original purpose was to "redeem threads that were better off somewhere else" and to "decrease the amount of off-topic/bad posts to make way for better topics" but this truthfully falls flat on its face in practice as the OP of a potential good thread actually relies on his posters and what they say to each other not his main topic.
So I propose something more pragmatic: instead of having the moderation team relocate what are essentially shitposts, we should pin on that board a decent off-topic thread. The board would effectively be a 4chan gallery of good threads while enforcing the definition of what bypass the off-topic post rule, and would at its best inspire other good threads to appear. If /trash/ were to be reformed this way, the thread must be relocated near the end of its life and additionally no extra posts can be posted on the board to keep it pure from a shitposting catastrophe.
historically moot had tried to make /r9k/ into its own think-tank to increase the amount of good posters and it succeeded in doing so for a while. The reason r9k failed is because a board can only entertain so many thoughts before the good posters all move on
Hiroyuki is trying to do the same exact thing but it's more indirect not to mention on a (I assume) board wide scale. As a result it makes threads moved there very inefficient in doing its job: filtering content from both boards.
This reform will in theory make /trash/ the best board on this website to visit to read good posts from ALL boards and hopefully, teach a lot of people what it takes to be a good poster

There's something supremely comfy about knowing whatever you post cannot be subjected to the janitors' sense of what is or is not "quality."
It's also a "hidden" board (Floens and Clover killed that for /qa/), so the userbase has at least some savvy as a baseline.
I've had some genuinely insightful conversations on /trash/ as a result of it. And I'm not even a furry.
It's one of those things that works better in real life than it does on paper.
