4chan came back after a 5 year hiatus in 2014 with the help of /pol/ starting when tumblr attacked /b/. /pol/ started a renaissance of 4chan influence and took /b/'s place. Then /pol/harbor happened and from that day on 4chan has slowly gone back into irrelevancy.
2014 was probably the most active year since 2009.
