What went right?

Funny and creative fanbase that feels like a throwback to old school 4chan because it's more of a community, without going overboard into forum faggotry.

/vp/'s success has made me question some of my ideas regarding how 4chan should be structured. I think the people running the site are worried that splitting boards into smaller communities will "reddit-ize" the site, turning everything into smaller and smaller bubbles. And I used to think that way myself before using /vp/ regularly. /his/ is like that too.

That's why I think splitting /tv/ into /tv/ and /film/ would only have a positive effect in the long run. You can't have boards be too small and insular without breeding faggotry, but if they're too large they inevitably turn into derivatives of /b/.

What are your thoughts on splitting /v/?

Is this post entirely sarcastic?
>>

I think he's serious.

Lol.

Lack of new game releases. You won't think the same when a gen 7 game gets announced
>>
>>430809
Anything below gen 6 went right.

Now is just smogon 2.0 or reddit /pokemon.

[s4s] had a one night stand with them and Showderp was born.

Only reason the board exists between gens now.
>>

>going to showderp
>thinking you have an opinion worth reading
Pick one.

Showderp is literally the cancer killing the board.
>>
>>431011
>showderp
>not clover

You know, the place that actually gets bombarded with shitposts?
>>
>>431035
Clover is basically the cancer that got invited over by Showderp spreading their cancer all over.
>>
>>431021
Showderp is the only way the board even breaks new ground anymore.

Everything else has already been discussed to death, but the meme machine that is Showderp keeps on churning.

Also you forget the history of it. Before Showderp's time /vp/ was just envelope-pushing furbait and waifufagging.
It's still that now, but at least there's a safe haven walled off by ebin /s4s/-tier shitposts.

Showderp is the true spirit of pokemon.

And then from Showderp, it turned from s4s memes to a huge circlejerk. Shitposting is the biggest craze of the threads. There's shitposting about memes, shitposting about tripfags, shitposting about drama, shitposting about the dex, and shitposting incoherently. The main shitposting involves drama due to how many underage kiddies think it's cool to scream "avidraco" at someone whenever they disagree with them.

Pic related: it's the Clover team.
>>
What would happen if mods started deleting Showderp and Clover due to their entire existence basically breaking global rule 6?
>>
>>431117
What if they banned generals like they did at /a/?
>>
>>431118
The generals are for the most part fine. The board's problem is the [s4s] shit breeding in those two threads.

Clover needs to go.
>>
>>430824
Except for the /film/ meme, this is post is surprisingly accurate. I for one find the Pokemon fan community to be a complete and utter cancer, but /vp/ operates very well and is a quality board entirely because of the passion of these people.

Its small user base and relatively slow post count are large factors in this equation.
>>
>>431121
Why do you hate OC so much?

Every time someone complains about them, they forget that it's all in the very spirit of an imageboard.

It's not shitposting if it produces something lasting and worthwhile.
>>
/vp/ really just feels like a /vg/ general got its own board. That's pretty good, I guess.

fuck off

nothing really. It's a containment ground for nintoddlers.

Though I suppose turning it into a blueboard did help drum up some real content instead of it just being a giant porn dump board
>>
>>431762
Nobody would've wanted a NSFW Pokemon board.
>>
>>431551
Because Clover and Showderp definitely produce OC that everyone else on /vp/ uses.
>>
nothing
>>
>>432023
Showderp does indirectly because they've actually changed the meta of competitive Pokemon before.
