You totally misunderstand it. Text, in any form, is acceptable. If it were a loud song yelling "nigger" or something, then it would be innapropriate as you are claiming. Worksafe is NOT a guarantee that content on the board is acceptable for work, but that certain content which is unacceptable is not permitted. For example, images with nudity are permitted on /a/, a blue board, as long as it aired on TV. You would certainly get fired for viewing those images at a workplace, but they are still allowed on /a/. Hiro himself stepped in to say that this was acceptable.
Also, the post being a derailment or not is irrelevant. The post to which it is replying is the derailment. "Drakeposting" is a meme on /v/ and other boards to intentionally get people to respond to their image rather than the post. This has been going on for quite a while. Additionally, the drakeposting anon was just calling the thread "SJW" in an attempt to derail it himself. The banned poster was deriding him for that.

The problem is the influx itself, not where it came from.Allow me to illustrate:
Imagine a simplified 4chan where there are 1000 users and 3 boards, and each board only has room for 100 posts. One board is a containment board for unsavory stuff, which can be /pol/ shit or just general tolerance of shitposting and derailing, let's call it /cancer/, and the other boards are /weeb/ and /vidya/. Now imagine that, on average, 50% of users tolerate "banter" and shit outside of /cancer/ and all of them post in /vidya/ and /cancer/, while only half of them post in /weeb/. The other 50% of users all use /weeb/, but only 50% of them visit /cancer/ and none of them visit /vidya/ because of its tolerance for shit where it doesn't belong.
So, we have 750 people on /weeb/, 750 people on /cancer/ and 500 people on /vidya/. Now, assuming there are always 100 posts on each board and that every board reflects the preferences of its users, /weeb/ would have 75 posts on topic and 25 banter posts, while /vidya/ and /cancer/ are pretty much the wild west where anything goes, so 2000 banters posts. Now imagine we add 1000 new users, who don't have much of a clue of how the site works, and start using the site corresponding perfectly to the on-topic/banter ratio present on all boards. That would mean 750 new banterers, and only 250 new people who want on-topic posts in /weeb/. As the site grows, the proportion of people who actually want to stay on topic and discuss stuff they want compared to the people who want to just post /cancer/ banter becomes smaller and smaller. It is obvious the solution to keep baord quality would be to enforce the rules and ban /cancer/ from /vidya/. Now, the actual situation in this site is quite a bit more complex, but the same reasoning can still be applied. The more the userbase grows while there are unwritten rules that are enforced over the written ones, the more the site will become more and more like its most chaotic boards.

I don't see it that way. I see us all having a big discussion and /qa/ getting a lot of activity because of that public ban. No individual post on 4chan has any value, but the combined activity of the website is good and anything the mods might do to drum up some activity is a good thing. Users are a dime a dozen, and one of 4chan's biggest problems is that it's too crowded. We need more engagement from fewer people and this public ban accomplished that.
