4chan is being over saturated with new boards. Ever since 2008 moot added in boards that no one asked for, like a board for outdoors, science, lgbt, business, and fashion. These boards are all but useless to many people here and were never needed to begin with. Now while there are some new boards I do like, such as /wsr/, /his/, and /trash/, other ones simply have either failed, been shitposted to death so badly you can't even use them anymore, or are dead. Most people that like 4chan are nerds: Basically the ones that like anime, video games, and comics and cartoons. And also 2D porn. When I see something like this >>411365 it rings so true, so much so I'm saving this for future reasons.

Hiro you must understand we have almost 70 different boards on here. This isn't like 2ch, we have no need for some many of these boards, simply because on many of them you can go to some other forum or some other site and get better information without shitposting. Hiro if you were to easily remove the boards that are no longer needed, you would most likely see things start to improve around here, freeing up space

Holy crap you have no idea what you're talking about.

We need about 15 more new boards and none of the current ones need to be deleted. There is nothing wrong with having 70 boards, even if they end up being slow. Get the fuck over your fear of change.

inb4 8gag and reddit and other apples and oranges comparisons to 4chan.
>>
>>411737
Back in 2007, aka the glory year of 4chan we didn't have 70 boards. We didn't need so many to begin with. We are not Reddit or 8Gag, we don't need this many boards.
>>
>>411745
The glory days are over and the top 5 boards are overcrowded and bursting at the seams. Deleting boards is exactly the opposite of how to fix that.

>we didn't have 70 boards. We didn't need so many to begin with. We are not Reddit or 8Gag
First of all, who the fuck is "We" and Second, who died and made "Ya'll" think 4chan has to be preserved like a national forest?

It's simply progress, mah boy, progress....

/lgbt/ has been requested since 2006, and possibly even earlier. It has a number of regulars and active generals. Either you've never actually lurked there, or you're just being a cunt.

No idea about the science board, but I'm pretty sure /out/ is active.

/his/ is the only addition I was opposed to, and several other (non-/pol/) anons for that matter. Everybody predicted it would become /pol/ with dates, and that's exactly what happened.
>>
>>411756
>and that's exactly what happened.
Wrong, they actively ban /pol/ content on /his/. You either never go there or are so hypersensitive that you think WWII is automatically /pol/ content.
>>
>>411726
/out/ is amazing

/sci/ is pretty good

/biz/ is pretty good

never been to /fa/ but it seems fairly popular

Why single those out?
>>
>>411756
/his/ became a liberal /pol/ pretty much because the mods were paranoid /pol/ was gonna take it over.

So many new boards got ruined thanks to the moderation. Many believe the /aco/ and /d/ debacle was the result of the mods trying to fuck with Hiro and the userbase by ruining /d/ and forcing them onto /aco/. /his/ became liberal /pol/ because again, the mods were paranoid, /trash/ was never used the way it was supposed to be used. It was just supposed to be a dumping ground for any off topic thread. Instead the mods just abandoned that idea overnight. /news/ wasn't needed to begin with, and apparently there was a massive argument with the mods about it. /wsr/ is the only board I can say we did need, because /r/ was just a a porn dump board.

>>411774
I just chose random examples of normie boards no one wanted and asked for. We need to start removing boards that we don't need anymore period. You can go to other forums for a lot of the topics on here and get better results without dealing with shitposters. If we can get rid of at least 20-25 boards that would be a start
>>
This thread reeks of pretentious /a/utism.
>>
>>411778
It's ironic when you think about it. People were so paranoid that /his/ was going to become "/pol/ with dates", that the mods ensured it became "/leftypol/ with dates". It became a self-fulfilling prophecy.

/his/ just needs to be deleted and then remade in a few months after things calm down. Give it a fresh start, and this time around put some actual trust in the userbase instead of going full Nazimod on anything that even smells like a right-wing opinion.
>>
>>411794
Yeah some of these boards require either a full on deletion like /po/ does or a massive reboot like /his/ and /v/
>>
>>411745
we also didn't have that many people. Do you imagine merging /vg/ and /v/? /jp/ and /a/? It's not possible, even tho they used not to exist.

When there is too much people, a board is meant to go to shit. /b/, /v/, /a/. Best boards are easily the slow ones as good content stay for days, there is a way lower amount of shitposting and also moderation required is extremely low.
>>
>>411726
What is wrong with having lots of boards? Right now certain boards are way overcrowded such as /v/ and would benefit from being split into separate boards
>>
>>411753
>who the fuck is "We"
"We", "us", "we" want, "we" need, etc...
It's how shitters make their point on this board. It immediately transforms their delusions intro truth.
>>
>>411726
yeah, you don't know what you're talking about. /lgbt/ is very active, /sci/ is good too, /fa/ is very active and so is /biz/ although /biz/ was created mostly as a containment board for cryptocurrencies to keep them off /g/. /out/ has a few dedicated posters as well
>>
>>411802
But we still don't need 70 fucking boards, specially ones for niche as fuck topics no one cares about. We want to go back to being obscure again. We got too much attention thanks to events like The Fappening and GamerGate. Those fucked us big time. It doesn't matter how many people we have. Also I have noticed traffic has been decreasing on this site since 2014. We're big, but not as big as one would think
>>
>>411808
>we
This again? You don't need to care about things you don't care about. You don't have interest in a certain board? Then don't go there. Stick to boards you like.

In before "the only board I like is /qa/".
>>
>>411808
>But we still don't need 70 fucking boards
You're right, we need 120 boards about niche topics. That's what will bring more traffic.
>>
>>411808
>We want to go back to being obscure again
And you think merging everyone into big boards will achieve that? Do you think people from /out/ are just going to stop posting if the boards gets deleted? Same works with any other board. They'll move to another board, but WILL continue to post.

You want to go back to being obscure but you fail to see that it is exactly what achieve the small boards.
No, we CANNOT go back to being obscure, there is simply too many people and the website is way too known on internet for that. Creating new boards isn't made to bring in more people: it is made to split people from the big boards.

Traffic will increase no matter what we do. Only solution would be go full nazi and delete anything that you find cancerous, but good luck with that many people coming from other websites.
>>
>>411810
>In before "the only board I like is /qa/".
And /a/, I like /a/. But really this is the only board to talk about the mod situation and everything wrong with 4chan currently. And this isn't about what I don't like idiot. This is about the site being flooded with boards 4chan doesn't need or boards that are only used by like 20 people. You CANNOT moderate or janitor 70 fucking boards at one time.

>>411816
The only boards that should be merged are /v/, /vr/, and /vg/. And actually if we get rid of boards where the shitposting is fucking awful, the shitposters will lose more and more ground. I mean you have people talking about deleting /lit/ its so fucking bad there.

Point is, we don't need all these niche boards. See the picture in the original post. Read it.
>>
>>411824
>This is about the site being flooded with boards 4chan doesn't need or boards that are only used by like 20 people. You CANNOT moderate or janitor 70 fucking boards at one time.
You don't need to worry about that. You don't know what 4chan needs or doesn't need.
>>
>>411824
/a/ is the shitposting and you are the normie.
>>
>>411745
>Back in 2007, aka the glory year of 4chan we didn't have 70 boards
Because 4chan was much, MUCH smaller in 2007.
>>
>>411846
We don't need 70 boards though for topics no one asked for. A lot of boards like /tv/ and /out/ moot added because he wanted to attract more normies to 4chan
>>
>>411831
So tell me what it needs then?

>>411833
Don't you mean /v/?
>>
>>411848
Why not?
>>
>>411850
Because those boards either turn into shitposting dumps because no one is moderating the board, no one fucking uses them and you maybe get 10 posts an hour if you're lucky, or they simply have no reason to be on this site.
>>
>>411855
>>411850
You cannot have this many boards while having so few moderators, you can't
>>
>>411848
>A lot of boards like /tv/ and /out/ moot added because he wanted to attract more normies to 4chan
I didn't realize watching movies and going camping were "normie" activities.
>>
>>411849
>So tell me what it needs then?
What would I know.
The point is, stop being a shitter, stop talking for others, stop caring about things you don't need to care about. Stick to and care about things you have interest in.
>>
>>411788
yep, called it.
>>
>>411860
So basically you have no idea and just want to see 4chan die?
>>
>>411866
Your ideas aren't wrong but you ignore one important point: the amount of people
There is simply too much people on 4chan. Merging boards will only make things worse. 100 dedicated people are enough to turn a whole board into shit, and /r/4chan has 681x more subscribers than that. The most populated boards are basically newfag-magnets (/b/, /pol/, /a/, /v/), and you cannot stop the flow of newfags as the website is too popular.

If mods were actually doing their job, they would be quality controlling like mad, deleting blatant shitposting (POO IN LOO XD, D E S I G N A T E D XD, WE WUZ SHIET XD) left and right, but they aren't.

One thing that these fucktards are able to do tho is create boards. Splitting the community is definitely a good short-term solution against that, as the originally popular board still will be the magnet, but the board that got created won't. Leaving a board where you can quality control easily and where good content will not be pushed off the board too fast.

Slow boards are the best as long as we have big one to contain the retards. Now, you could try quality-controlling the big ones from the start, but there is simply too much people liking it that i really doubt you can stop it without going full-moot (like when he removed the captcha on /pol/ and shit). And given how new Nagasaki is at managing this very website, i doubt he will take those kind of decisions any soon. Hell, he probably doesn't even read them.
>>
>>411883
At this point there really isnt' a choice, drastic action must be taken. The way things are being run here is a joke, and the mods are doing nothing to fix the problems we have. We need to control the newfags though, make it harder for them to get away with the shit they do
>>
>>411883
Also if you can't fix /v/ then what is the point of saving 4chan? If you can't save /pol/ what is the point? If you can't even save /int/ what is the point?

We do we need more mods, but we can't be having global's anymore, it won't work. Mod favoritism is a massive issue
