I would like to petition for a new board: /art/. On said board, we could discuss theater, musical theater, the opera, paintings, sculptures, classic composers and symphonies, new movements in the arts in general. None of these topics belong on any other board really.

Musical theater, opera, classic composers and symphonies fall under /mu/, paintings and sculptures under /ic/.
Any of the above from prior to the 1970s could also be discussed on /his/ if it is in historical or "classical" context.
>he wants to discuss "serious" topics with a bunch of meme spouting kids
Reminder that /lit/, /sci/ and /tv/ are actually the worst boards of the site. Literally anywhere else is better than 4chan for discussing those things.

But why should there be two boards or more for talking about theater? Musical theater/non-musical theater and opera should be in the same board. By that logic there would be no /co/ or /a/, because cartoons should be discussed on /tv/.
