What merits being banned from posting in all boards rather than being banned from one board? I have only ever been comprehensively banned, but have seen screencaps of board-specific bans.

In general you get banned from all boards for breaking global rules. Also the obvious Child Porn option will get you banned from everything.

I've gotten global bans for breaking board specific rules, so if that's how it's supposed to work then some of them aren't following it.
