How the fuck did they magae to surpass /b/ as the most hated board on 4chan?
>>

Fuck I'm tired
>>
Watch out, redditors will say /pol/ is the most hated board
/mlp/ is though
>>
>>398113
By becoming the modern /b/ in posting and being the containment board for newfags
>>
gamers (male and female) are mentally ill
>>
Think of all the people that might play video games. Now think about how many of those people are actually worth talking to. It's a pretty small percentage, is it not?
>>
>>398113
hating /b/ got old.

/v/ got their own chanology
>>
Population size, and nobody cares about /b/.
>>
/b/ is pretty irrelevant
>>
>not /a/
Good try though
>>
>>398256
Spot the /v/ermin, is someone upset that /a/ called your rec thread shit? You haves /wsr/ now for your shitty anime rec threads.
>>
>>398258
>/v/
not him, but you fags constantly always shitpost /mu/, /tv/ and /pol/ with dumb shit
>>
>>398259

>>
Millenials On Mobile
>>
>>398113
/v/ actually has a very popular subject to talk about

I assume whoever went to /b/ and then to /v/ started spreading /v/ around to their friends and reddit over heard and went their

/b/ is irrelevant now
>>
The only relevancy /b/ has anymore is from the dozens of ebin screencaps from /b/ that are still posted on r/4chan ad infinitum.
>>
I know 4chan is contrarian by default but /v/ takes that contrarianism to insane levels. It's more and more tiring to reason with someone as more and more people believe it's THE place to shitpost.
>>
>>398113
Their raid became a bannable offense on their homeboard so they went and spread their bullshit onto everyone else's.
>>
>>398117
People dont care about /mlp/.
The containment works.
>>
As far as my two cents go I don't like /v/ much, but I still like them far more than /pol/, /r9k/ and /int/.

/v/ is at least keenly self-aware of its problems, and there are at least some people there trying to figure out what to do about it. The other three seem completely oblivious to how shitty they are and if anything are proud of it and in fact don't want to be forced to reconsider their shitty nonconstructive posting mentalities.
>>
It's weird, since /tv/ is the worst board.
>>
All the /b/ idiots moved there. It's like an even more casual /b/.
>>
>>398113
Cross-site.
>>
/v/ /pol/ /int/ /r9k/ /a/ are unmonitored hotspots. so they attract a lot of shitting. eversince /b/ became inrellevant shitters have migrated to other boards.
>>
>>398446
>>398440
Both of these.
Posters started doing shit "ironically" and now the board is full of newfags thinking shitposting is the norm.
>>
/mu/ is the worst board, sorry
it's full of wannabe music critics who brown nose artists just for being unknown
>>
>>398444
I never thought of that. It's probably where they all started to fall apart.
>>
>>398461
At least /mu/ has some good music discussions and sharethreads once in a while, I found some good stuff there I otherwise wouldn't.
>>
goobergate brought a ton of newfag nitwits and that's why half the site reads like a text message now. thanks /v/.
>>
>>398446
/int/ is not unmonitored, the janitor there just monitors one thread constantly.
>>
>>398113

/v/ is the only board on 4chan that openly invites Redditors, underagedB&, and social media to 4chan.
Then it does nothing to show them how the site is used, or tell them to lurk moar, and tells them that 4chan is "just like Reddit."

Then these users spread to other boards where they ruin almost every last thread they post their stupid, uneducated opinions in.
And if you call them out on this shit they post the same "not your sekrit club", "go back to /pol/", "go back to /r9k/", "muh containment board", "no such thing as site/board culture" garbage that /v/ taught them.

/v/ can be fixed by simply being uninviting to these people.
I know /tv/ has this issue, but they seem to at least stay on their own damn board.

They tried throwing more mods at the board but that didnt work because the mods were just the same people from the board.
>>
a lot of people here are saying /b/ is irrelevant, but /b/ is still fucking people up in subtle ways. do you realize how many fake twitter trends and news stories those tards have gotten through this year alone? their influence isn't as obvious but it's very much still there
>>
>>398755
You forgot NeoGaf, the amount of cross-posting is ridiculous.
>>
>>398758
nobody cares, /b/
>>
>>398113
/a/ started a slander campaign that spread through the power of memes.

I think they did this because they're butthurt about Japan losing its supremacy in the gamedev world. Back in the day, loving Japanese games was the norm, but as Western games improved and Japanese games fell into a bottomless pit of moe and mobileshit, people followed the quality. As a result they can't hide behind the masses and get called out when they post about bullshit like Fortune Summoner, Neptunia, and Senran Kagura.
>>
>>398864
Hmm. This theory actually sounds believable.

2: /r9k/
3: /pol/
4: ???

I know there's plenty of anti-anime posters but I don't think there's enough of them for /a/ to take the 4th spot

Japan still makes a crapload of good games, they're just not the undisputed masters of the realm anymore, and that upsets some people.

>/a/ started a slander campaign
Is that so? Why would /a/ even bother when they hate anything /v/? You know /v/ has always had an otaku, weeaboo or whatever you want to call it population right? People seem to forget that videogames are as much of an otaku interest as anime, manga and VNs. Comiket, pixiv and nico nico focus on them as much as they do on anime. There is also an entire otaku subspecies that only cares about video games. But since it doesn't get separated in the west like anime/cartoons and manga/comics, people get triggered at the sight of an "anime" face in their vidya safespace, because somehow it shouldn't be there even though it has always been.

I think you are confusing /a/ hating /v/, with /v/ hating itself.

Porn thread on /v/ with 100+ posts.
>>>/v/322599336

Unlike normal /v/, they are discussing the OP due to it being related to the image. While that would be normal for most boards, it is ironic in the sense that /v/ is a sfw board as opposed to one where porn is allowed and they are actually discussing OP's question; more often than not the /v/ userbase consistently make threads with either a normal discussion topic or what every other board would consider a cancerous or shitpost topic, along with a completely different image than what the OP's subject is about. The userbase straight-up ignores OP's question (and as of recently, the first responder straight-up says "fuck this, discuss X") and create massive shitpost threads where they feel good about ignoring the OP and having good fun doing so. Oftentimes the OP's image is deliberately set up to encourage this and fairly often when newfags create threads they use the same type of image but discuss the image instead of creating a fake point of discussion, causing the thread to get quickly deleted rather than being a 200+ shitpost fest.

I believe this causes most boards to tout /v/ as the worst board on 4chan.

TL;DR: /v/ is like [s4s] without the irony.

Also, here's a LOL thread. At their best they are threads where they make fun of the webcomic artist for knowing nothing about the game they are creating the comic of but more-often-than-not they discuss comics that have nothing to do with video games, mock Social Justice, or are thinly-veiled >>>/r/ for porn. The LOL in the OP signifies to everyone that this is a thread for funposting and not necessarily video game discussion.

The image from the opening post is from the webcomic WHOMP which sometimes features video games. Whether the thread become a dump for random WHOMP comics or transform into a porn dump, you can't be too sure but those two results are more-than likely.

>>>/v/322602203

Here's a filename thread. The term filename signifies to the board that this is a thread for images with funny filenames and not necessarily one about video games. That's all it is. Sometimes images vaguely reference a video game but just as often reference memes and oftentimes contains cropped porn.

Became much more popular after YL;YL threads on /b/ became spammed with a nice image of a banana.
>>
>>401549

>>>/v/322605364

Random youtube video and twitch streaming threads like this have been popping up on /v/ over the course of a year or so. Streaming and youtube used to be allowed on /v/ but were stopped when the board was getting flooded with "watch my channel!", that advertising was against the rules anyways, and that also it brought in cringy underageb& posters who wanted you to watch them play video games.

Why they are popping up I can only guess is because the twitch userbase is getting larger and that subreddits for youtubers don't let you criticize them.

Fortunately I've only seen about one thread like this a day so far in addition to "how's that gaming channel coming along?" threads - /soc/ threads which has a surprising number of people dump their shitty youtube channels with 20+ views - but I expect it to increase overtime as streaming becomes more mainstream.
>>
>>401555

>>>/v/322606551

With twitch streaming there is also a speedrunning event happening called AGDQ, an event where speedrunners stream random games and people donate to support charity while watching it. On /v/ it's treated almost like a big official announcement from Nintendo / Microsoft / SONY, except instead for building hype for new games / systems it's mostly for mocking autistic-like behavior in the speedrunners / announcers or troll the event through donations or creating the next boxxy / worship of a certain streamer / worship of person in the background. Most of /v/ doesn't care about the game being streamed and video game streaming isn't supposed to be on /v/ anyways as per >>401549.

>>>/v/322606564

I don't think anyone has coined these threads so I'm just going to call them quote threads. In quote threads anons usually make up either a ridiculous or commonplace social event that could happen while playing a video game and anons discuss how annoying / sad it is when it occurs or try to come up with even more ridiculous things that could occur. Also comes in the form of:

>See you after work!
>Last online: Sept. 11th 2001

There is another version without the [r9k] aspect where anons try to guess the video game which follows a certain trope:

>get boss to 5% HP
>boss dies

There's a third version which is just mostly for the anon to shitpost about or criticize an aspect of a game they disagree with:

>An ancient evil has awoken

While I believe the trope version (and occasionally the latter) actually leads to video game discussion the first is just as common and certainly wouldn't be allowed on other boards due to removing actual discussion from them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one irritated by these threads, especially with filename threads and how they're used as an excuse to post the latest /pol/ happening or just straightup gore. Or how derailed threads will always go under the mods noses because of how well "veiled" the OP is. I bet if you made the typical shit thread while calling their hotpockets out they'll still somehow turn a blind eye to it.

/v/ is such an anomaly. i'm actually very interested on how it became such a damned pigsty. i get it, video games are a widely mainstream topic right? so of course it'd be a very populated board. would that automatically mean that it's somehow just as bad if not worse than a board created for ironic shitposting? it's incredible just to gander and witness the amount of LOL, SJW, Filename, and "cuck" threads. the sheer amount of anger and abhorrence over the most trivial of things. it's incredible.
>>
>>402414
It's all of what you said combined with anonymity. While anonymity works on slower boards, on a place like /v/ it means all the children can run free and shitpost to their heart's content. I think IDs would help that place a lot.
