This is getting ridiculous. If they're going to enforce this rule, they should spend a little more time on /v/ and commit to it. Else it just sounds like they selectively enforce that rule. All across the site that rule is just selectively enforced. I'm not condoning shitposting, but I also can see how this rule could easily apply to a multitude of harmless posts if a mod wishes. It all depends on what is better suited to a board. In the case of /v/, you have to see if the discussion is about video games, and not about something that isn't really about video games. Say someone wants to talk about a game that is from an anime series. Now do they want to actually talk about the game, or does it look like they want to talk about the anime series more? If they want to talk about the series more than the game, it should go to /a/. If they're talking about the game itself, it should be on /v/.
And, again, about OP: a ban may, or may not, be overkill in this situation depending on how often you make posts like that. Really, was that post even necessary? Did it add any substance to the thread? Does it not look like some kind of catchphrase? Does it not look like pointless comment you would find on YouTube?
