He is more or less the same failure he was back then, and all throughout the past ten years he kept falling into the same failed projects because he assumed that a successful website based around creative expression was actually something to do with his input and not entirely due to us, the userbase. He was a lazy kid who grew into a lazy apathetic failure.

Yep. And moot failed with canvas because he assumed people gave a shit about just making pictures enough to support a site. The dumb kids already have their meme template sites, so it didn't appeal to them. And people on 4chan either know how to make edits and shit and could just do it here, or actually care more about discussion than posting a fucking picture of something, and it was worksafe/needed Facebook to login at first.
4chan blew up to be as big as it did not because people can post a picture. They can do that anywhere. Nobody gives a shit about those overall unless it's relevant to discussion/porn/funny. It blew up to be as big as it did because it offered the niche of anonymity in the west whereas nobody else really offered that aside from the Japanese who block foreign IPs.
He made the mistake that imageboards were popular because of pictures and not discussion. He should have known that wasn't right because Futaba Channel didn't even allow image replies until like fucking 2 years ago or something and 2ch, the place Hiro used to run, was a textboard and was huge. Images alone ain't shit without discussion.
So, canvas appealed to nobody in the end.
